Taylor Swift's political silence on Palestine diminishes her legacy.
If she can’t stand up for humanity, what does she stand for? With such a huge following and obvious influence, she has the power to build a mass movement for human rights, but she doesn’t. Perhaps she is afraid of a backlash, but staying silent over such atrocities is how Hitler got away with so much human rights abuse. He murdered millions. Now the world watches a genocide being carried out in Gaza yet governments do nothing to stop it. With the communications technology today no one can say they weren’t aware of what’s happening in Gaza. There are brave souls working in Gaza trying to ease the suffering any way they can. Taylor Swift can influence her huge following to support human rights there but she doesn’t. This is an influential power wasted.
