Millions Could Again Face The Troubles If Northern Ireland Protocol Is Scrapped
After Ireland broke free of British rule in 1921, it caused a divide between Catholics and Protestants in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. It sparked an explosive era of deadly political violence from the late 1960’s through the late 1990’s known as “The Troubles”. Northern Ireland was fraught with car bombs, riots and revenge killings. The conflict effectively ended with the signing of the Good Friday Agreement in 1998. But now, one move by the new British Prime Minister and history could repeat itself.

Parents are giving up green card fights to get their kids out of immigrant jail: Marshall Project
In 2013, Ana Kikabidze was selected to receive a U.S. green card. When unforeseen circumstances hit she had to move back to her home country. When she came back to the U.S. in May with her children, the family was arrested and sent to the controversial detention center in Dilley, Texas. When talking about modern Ireland one thing that needs to be mentioned was how a Protestant Irish Parliament successfully gained independence for Ireland between 1782 and 1800, during which time Catholics got most of their rights back, with most Irish people of different faiths uniting under the ideologies of either constitutionalism or Republicanism, with both in favour of varying degrees of Irish sovereignty/autonomy and increased personal rights.
This independence ended when a failed Republican Revolution in 1798 led British prime minister William Pitt to intimidate and bribe the Irish Parliament into merging the Kingdom Ireland into the UK after an initial Union vote failed. Ireland’s Parliament was forced to merge with The British one (though the courts and civil service of Ireland remained separate, but nominally subject to Westminster from now on).
People on both sides seem to have completely forgotten this chapter in Irish history, because Protestants and Catholics fighting together for an independent Irish Kingdom doesn’t fit anyone’s narrative, and yet it had a major impact on the island. Unionism, Republicanism and Constitutionalism all originate from the original Irish volunteers that used the opportunity of the American Revolution distracting Britain to revolt in 1782. Let's mark Von der Leyen's card. If she comes into the office of the chief executive of our national sovereignty and attempts to subvert our sovereignty by imposing her constituency's domineering political agenda over our national life she should be shown the door. She should not be allowed to sit there and dictate how this negotiation shall turn out. She can think again. Also you Americans should be told in no uncertain terms.

Incorrect. NI is legally not a country. The troubles were about equality first, reunification second. You should note that the ‘border’ goes through peoples houses. Should also give some background that this happened for 800 years, the UK/GB attempted genocide, they essentially eradicated our culture, sent us across the world in coffin ships, forced us into servitude, treated us like animals inter alia.
Thankfully the decedents of the foreigners that colonised here are now in the minority and that we moving fast to reunification

It's interesting to watch this, and think to myself, well, do I take his criticism of PM Truss as an indication that I will probably like her? Do I believe that although in globalist and domestic politics, this guy is a propagandist, that he might be able to talk about the dynamics of the Irish question? I tend to think that since he is detached personally from the Irish problems, that he might be credible in this particular case. Needless to say, listening to him is usually an exercise of listening to propaganda, and comparing his assertions to other sources. I will say thank you for addressing this topic. I hope this turns out that you are quite capable of talking about specific international relations without your typical bias.

There will always be tension and unease in Northern Ireland. It comes with the territory of being a divided society. Divided because of Britains policy of colonise and segregate. Belfast is the only city on the island with a high wall, keeping communitys apart. What does that tell you? The Catholics will never, ever, allow themselves to be discriminated or treated as second class citizens again, in their own country. You can bet your lifes savings on that. To quote the 1916 leader, Patrick Pearse, "Beware of the risen people!"
