OLD NEWS: The Iranian Revolution

Published

on

On January 16, 1979, in the face of increasing civil unrest in Iran and anger towards the monarchy, the Shah fled the country, paving the way for the return of exiled religious leader, Ayatollah Khomeini. Khomeini and his forces would soon overthrow the secular government, establishing the current Islamic Republic and beginning a period of tension with America that endures to this day.

The Iranian revolution, is no exception compared to other revolutions elsewhere, people got blinded by the lies and propaganda of Khomeini and the Shah saw his time was up. Yes, Shah used SAVAK to quell and supress opposition, yes he was modernizing and – westernizing Iran at breakneck speed ( seen by many as diluting Shia Islam identity), yes he was a US-UK ally, BUT, Khomeini was a reactionary uneducated cleric who cheated Iranians and betrayed their ALL their demands for democracy and social justice, by implementing a ruthless Theocratic dictatorship far far worse than whatever happened under Shah's autocracy.

comparing to all other movements in Iran, the current protests occurring in all Iranian cities nonstop for the last 7 weeks with new messages supported by a new generation in Iran is a revolution. This is the first women and the first people revolution in Iran.

1979 revolution was mostly supported by communist parties in Iran which was later titled by the US as an Islamic revolution after bringing Komeini from France to Iran to push Russian influence out of Iran. US did the same investment in Afghanistan by paying Bin Laden to push Russians out.

This time in Iran an organic people revolution has emerged purely for human rights. Iranians have never been under so much political, cultural, social and economical pressure. No political party is responsible. The future leaders will emerge soon. If there was any, would be quickly killed by government. A brutal crackdown by Ayatolah's 4 police forces and the undercover VAJA or MOIS agents that torture and kill protestors in the street, in their own houses and by abduction has failed to stop the current revolution in Iran. This is the end of the most powerful radical terrorist government in the world. We Australian should support the people of Iran to succeed.

Emergency responders took Sen. Mitch McConnell to an ambulance on a stretcher after being called to his home last month for a report of an unconscious person, according to new video of the incident and an eyewitness account.

A neighbor of McConnell told CNN that they opened their door to find commotion outside their home at around 8:30 a.m. on June 14, with two ambulances, a fire truck and Capitol Police officers blocking the entire street.

The neighbor said they learned from another eyewitness who saw the individual’s face that the person on the stretcher was McConnell and he was not wearing an oxygen mask.

CNN’s Annie Grayer has the details, and emergency physician Dr. Megan Ranney describes what struck her about the newly released video. Also, CNN’s Audie Cornish looks at GOP lawmakers’ reactions to Sen. McConnell’s medical situation.
