Taylor Farms has been linked to cyclosporiasis and salmonella outbreaks this summer. After years of consolidation, experts say the company’s ability to control every stage of the supply chain has made it indispensable to grocers and restaurant chains, while raising the stakes for consumers when things go wrong. What about a personal drone to establish connectivity if you have say mountains in the way? You need emergency connect but you have no service? I am thinking of a drone carried in your vehicle, you launch it up high enough and send out your SOS text or email etc? Would that be feasible in very many no service situations? ….what if was even a deal where the drone takes your entire phone up and via an app and pre recorded messages or pre typed texts or emails sends and receives response ASAP and then you bring it back in and check it? OR a radio relay where again the phone is in the drone but now there is a cab radio link up to you on the ground to make live calls! OR how about THIS ….an abbreviated phone and processor with a sim slot is built into the drone to make it as light and compact as possible….you load your recording via app and then transfer simply card and fly it!……Or is all this just too stupid of a way to keep from just buying and maintaining service on a fricken sat phone?

This is so gimmicky, how long can this device stay in the air? in case of Storms or Hurricane, winds are at very high speed how does this whole thing work in those kind of situations?

This makes no sense. If they have to haul in a trailer base unit that fiber attaches to a drone, why not just wind up a portable 40-60 foot antenna? How long can a drone hover anyway? This seems silly.

drones could be used for more than that during the aftermath, can deliver stuff to people as well

Well, I guess these will be useful during the aftermath, after the weather clears out. I can't imagine one of these things staying up in the event of even moderate velocity winds.
