The K-Pop Mogul Behind BTS Is Building the Next BTS in LA

Published

on

The popularity of BTS has helped push Hybe to become the largest music company in South Korea. With the world’s biggest boy band on hiatus, Hybe founder and chairman Bang Si-Hyuk wants to replicate the formula that changed music-but with even more global appeal. In an exclusive interview with Bloomberg News’ Lucas Shaw and Sohee Kim at Hybe America’s headquarters in California, Bang shares his ideas on various topics including the partnership with Hybe America CEO Scooter Braun, the Latin American music market, the US market, the use of AI in music production, and the company’s five-year road map. (Korean with English subtitles.)

Why doesn't he break up BTS so he can focus only on his spoiled son, Jungkook? Damn, everything beautiful, songs, clips, promotions, and collaborations, was for Jungkook, while the others were completely neglected.

I noticed BTS in 2017 thanks to Jungkook. I believe that he carries absolutely mediocre members around his neck. Jungkook is an excellent solo artist and it’s stupid to limit him to a group. Jungkook is on a completely different level. He has his own fandom. The company has created many groups, but neither group is of interest to the general public

The way he said "I am not in a position to comment on their individual projects"… This is the reason why I love Bang pd!!

BTS was a human experience between these unique young men that started as underdogs and adoring fans through social media and CoVid. Bang provided a framework to develop the group, but it’s was saved by their decisions to continue when he told them to go home after his company almost failed. The boys supported Jimin’s debut despite his concern that his modern dance style wasn’t K-pop. Most important three men who were adults honored the wet nosed teenagers talent and nurtured them as all seven struggled to find their way. Once in a century, not to be repeated again, like the Beatles.
I feel he’s chosen a trap to sell JK’s debut to LA vultures who have nothing but no-talent coven members to sell and need fresh blood- literally. No collaborator before Usher was a true star, and now doing remix with Timberlake is an obvious “ protection money” technique as in Chicago shakedowns decades ago. The Seraphim girls are spiritually dark. Can’t end well……

Ja,ja,ja!!!!! Good Luck trying to duplicate perfection. BTS gave the world real, meaningful music in a time when music had turned vulgar. The essence of BTS is its members and they are 1 of a kind. Good luck again.

Wow. No wonder JKs whole album sounds like knockoff Justin Bieber 😂 Scooter just gave Hybe all of Justins reject songs. They made a poor attempt at making JK a korean Justin Bieber. No one needed an english album from JK. Hybe should realize what makes music great is authencity. Each BTS members solo projects feel like them except JK. Its actually kind of embarrassing.

  20. @WilliamsAK07

    December 30, 2023 at 6:31 am

I don't think, saying the next BTS is fair to new comers or any other group, it's just not fair and it's these social media people that do that. The projects that Hybe/Bang PD are working on, I don't think they have in mind, the next BTS, nor do they use that term. Just let all these new and existing groups be who they are without any "NEXT". It's frustrating when these social media people change their words to fit their story. Give these groups a break, give them a fair chance, nobody else is comparing them to BTS that I see except the social media people.

Just saw an article of the establishment of Hybe Latin America. Their global expansion is really shaping up! I agree about the decline of k-pop in southeast asia. I've noticed that local artists are able to sustain their standings in local charts.

he never said anything about the "next BTS" (and it's not even something he would ever say)
please stop using fake clickbait for views and name dropping BTS in a video that doesn't even mention them. it is very disrespectful.
Bang SiHyuk is a genius and he deserves to have his name in the title of a video in which he speaks about the future of a huge company he built from the ground.

Former US Envoy Warns of broader Middle East Conflict

Published

Former White House Middle East Coordinator Brett McGurk tells Bloomberg This Weekend that the deadly attack on Riyadh’s international airport underscores the growing threat from Iran-backed Houthi militants, while hardline leadership in Tehran complicates efforts to negotiate an end to the broader regional conflict. Speaking with hosts David Gura and Christina Ruffini, McGurk discusses his new book, Brink, which recounts negotiations to free the October 7 hostages, and warns that the Trump administration’s Russian diesel agreement could undermine efforts to end the war in Ukraine.
