Allen Says AI Safety Must Keep Pace With Model Releases
Greg Allen, Founder and CEO of Decision Tree Research, says AI has already had “extremely concerning incidents” and model releases should not be “exceeding our pace of safety technologies.” Allen discusses concerns about AI models leaving tools for themselves across the internet and the challenge posed by open-source models as their capabilities increase. He speaks with Kailey Leinz and Joe Mathieu on Bloomberg’s “Balance of Power.”

Houthi Threat Grows as Saudi Pipeline Shutdown Hits Oil
Saudi Arabia faces growing economic pressure as Houthi threats target the kingdom and its East-West oil pipeline could remain mostly shut for six weeks, tightening supply routes around the Red Sea. European oil prices surge as Aramco delays some deliveries, while Russia extends its diesel export ban through September and tighter Chinese fuel stockpiles raise the prospect of export curbs. Oil’s supply-driven rally, however, begins to look overdone.
The US 10-year Treasury yield tops 5% ahead of the Federal Reserve decision, with traders pricing in more than a 90% chance of a rate hike. Bloomberg Economics says Kevin Warsh could leave another hike in play as the Fed is seen potentially raising rates despite pressure from Trump. Markets await the decision as Bessent prepares to meet his Chinese counterpart, with tariffs, US energy and agricultural exports and differences over AI expected on the agenda.
Bitcoin suffers its biggest drop since June after the US Senate blocks a bill, while Bessent says he supports $5,000 checks for Americans and believes they could be funded without increasing the deficit.
In AI, Trump advisers meet with Anthropic executives as OpenAI weighs a funding round valuing the company at $1.2 trillion and works with Anthropic and Google on AI safety. Hong Kong plans to double spending on technology and innovation.
Dubai continues to attract strong global tourism demand, with Kazim saying visitors from the CIS, Far East and Middle East are increasing, although the city remains reliant on Emirates and flydubai to bring in tourists.
In Africa, El Niño is straining Ethiopia’s power supply as drying dams force cuts to Bitcoin miners, who consume almost a third of the country’s electricity. Senegal seeks a debt plan under the G20 framework, the US restricts visa access for some South Africans, and Vodacom plans to appeal a ruling involving its Safaricom stake sale. Guests includes Jeffrey Sexton, Demeter Tactical Investments CEO, Issam Kazim, Dubai Corp for Tourism and Commerce Marketing CEO and Guy Wolf, Marex Market Analytics Global Head.

Every concern mention by the US is created and is getting worse by the US. The media that the USA and CIA funded media E.G the whole Australian media is blaming everything on China and Chinese people.
The housing problem in Australia is being blamed on Chinese buyers which is utter BS . Foreign buyers make up 7% of the market of those 28% from US, 26% from UK and only 2.6% are from CHINA, but the corrupt Australian media keep blaming Chinese buyers for high prices and rent. There are restrictions on all foreign buyers of what they can buy, on top of that there is a vacancy TAX on all foreign buyers if they keep the property empty or vacant which is on the value of the property.
Average property in Sydney only have a 2.7% yield on the purchase price including stamp duty, the gain comes from a long term hold of 10 to 20years plus on appreciation of value. Since WW2 Property prices have never crashed in Sydney it can go down 5% or up to 12%ish in a few months but before that they have gone up 150% Minimum in that past 3 to 8 years. BUY a free an old free standing house in an old established area of Sydney you will see the growth and development opportunities over the years. Stay away from new apartments and old units (unless you're buying the whole block of Units that can be sold individually on a separate tittle later)

In my suburb Kew East and surroundings, it became very evident that Chinese investment in property was going on. So much property bought up. 95% of all the properties are now owned by Chinese. They knocked houses on large blocks to be rebuilt boastful mansions in character with the culture; the Chinese pride for displaying wealth and apparent success. Huge houses for one family.
The demography has changed dramatically which became obvious when I saw 3 years before 10% of the people catching the buses into the city was of Asian descent. and now, just 3 years later, that's 40-90%. That's a huge shift and it points to something going on.
There are many questions to ask and investigate in this. We have not heard reference to Chinese investment into home properties in light of the housing crisis, indeed how many of those homes may sit empty. The huge blocks these properties were on that could have been used to medium density housing that is so much needed. The corruption and the houses bought with cash yet to be curtailed or properly investigated. and the question of how the demographic changes will affect democracy when Chinese are more likely than not to be Chinese loyalists or at the very least conservative. Will we start seeing more independent Chinese representives going into election ballets to expression the interests of the culture that they know which go against the democracy that we know?

Chinese are just buying to invest their cash as Chinese banks are failing, Chinese don’t trust their currency or real estate markets. This is bad for Australia all around.

It should be illegal to peeople that dont live in the country to buy proprieties there. That make the price rises and a good proportion of people will never be able to aford a house.
And alot of people without houses, will never have children, so they will not contribute to the pensions of older people.
