Trump suffers the consequences of poor staffing choices
Jen Psaki looks at why Donald Trump is likely regretting staffing his administration based on culture war credibility rather than competence as FBI director Kash Patel’s antics appear to have reached critical mass, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is spending energy being upset about beards while being unable to end the war with Iran, and Vice President JD Vance is buying himself a multi-million dollar estate in the midst of a political season in which “affordability” is the biggest theme.

I FORGOT TO ADD THIS REMINDER TO THE REPUBLICANS WHO APPEAR TO BE HOLDING US HOSTAGE AS REVENGE FOR TRUMP'S LOSS. IF YOU THINK JOE BIDEN WILL BE BLAMES FOR YOUR NEGLECT TO ACT AS RESPONSIBLE LAWMAKERS, JOE BIDEN WILL BE PRAISED FOR HIS INGENUITY OF USING THE FOURTEENTH AMENDMENT TO BYPASS THE HOUSE'S NEGATION. SO REPUBLICANS IT'S A WIN FOR BIDEEN AND A LOSS FOR THE REPUBLICAN-CONTROLLED HOUSE. THEN WE WILL SEE HOW YOUR ACTION HAS IMPACTED YOUR NEXT REELECTION BIE.. YOU WILL ALL BE GONE AND A NEW SECOND PARTY WILL HAVE TAKEN YOUR PLACE. YOU HAVE MISCALCULATED THE PATRIOTISM OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE. THE 2020 ELECTION SHOULD HAVE SHOWN YOU THAT..
@reginamaraist3340
January 2, 2024 at 1:58 pm
REPUBLICAN LAWMAKERS WILL BE THE WORSE FOR WEAR IF THIS DEAL DOESN'T GO THROUGH. THE FIRST THING TO BE AFFECTED ARE THEIR SALARIES. I AM A SOCIAL SECURITY RETIREE AND OUR FUNDS ARE SECURED BY A SPECIAL TRUST FUND WHICH CAN LAST AT LEAST ONE OR MORE DECADES. SO, REPUBLICANS, IF YOU ARE STUPID ENOUGH TO FOLLOW TRUMP'S DIRECTION TO LET THE DEFAULT HAPPEN, I DO NOT PITY YOU FOR YOU HAVE BROUGHT IT UPON YOURSELVES AND WILL FOREVER BE KNOWN AS THE PARTY WHO SELF=DESTRUCTED BY ALLOWING A LUNATIC TO LEAD THE WAY. I DON'T FEEL SORRY FOR YOU ONE BIT. THIS APPEARS TO BE THE DEMISE OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY. OUR COUNTRY CAN DO WITHOUT YOU. JIM JORDAN, LISTEN UP.

The republicans have passed something and it's going to be very significant it will be much harder for democrats to say the republicans are aiming for default because all that it takes to not have a default is for the democrats to come to the table and pass something or even start a negotiation ….the bill itself the debt ceiling deal the way it's presented in the press …this bill is canceling some covid fund it's also demanding that we go back to the spending level of 2022….not 2019 …and the way the press is presenting these really minor spending cuts and a lot of it is spending cuts to the growth of spending in the next 10 years … they're talking about it as if planes are going to be canceled because there won't be enough air traffic controllers, suicides are gonna be on the rise because suicide hotlines that are payed by gov dollars are not going to be able to be staffed. They're talking about people going hungry and the thing is to my knowledge there was none of that going on in 2019 ! Planes were flying people were not dying of starvation on the streets and we were spending much less on the discretionary side at least $300 billion dollars less than they spent on the discretionary side in 2022. So this language tells the American people that they are not serious about it. How long are they willing to continue talking this way but if they are they are extremly responsible and it won't look good . The best way to make things better is by growing the economy and also by removing barriers to work and to produce and to lowering prices for Americans an agenda of abundance . The regulatory state is a bigger impediment than the tax policy …..everything that the country does requires a lot of energy and there are too many regulations in place that are holding things back …why do you think the left finds it so hard to understand the importance of economic growth ?

The invasion of Ukraine is absolutely not a territorial dispute. The gov't of the USSR insisted in 1945 that Ukraine and (then) Byelorussia within agreed upon borders insid the USSR were independent countries deserving of their own UN seats and got them. After the USSR broke up, the Russian gov't recognized the independence of these nations. Indeed, it did so more than three weeks before the US gov't did. The Soviet gov't voluntarily gave Crimea to Ukraine in 1954, no doubt never imagining that the USSR would fall apart and an independent-thinking electorate would vote in a Western-oriented leader. Nonetheless, they recognized the sovereignty of Ukraine over Crimea.
Is Pres. Putin today in a conflict with the Soviet and Russian gov'ts he worked for?
More likely, Putin realizes he is 70, is already bumping up against Russian male actuarial tables, doesn't have an ally in the White House willing to dismantle NATO for him, so that he could invade the Baltic states and Moldova without having to take on the armies of the US, Canada and almost all of Europe, and, if he is to start to reestablish the Soviet empire, and be remembered for that in history, he really couldn't waste any more time. The fact that he overestimated his own military, underestimated Ukrainian unity and resistance and was probably shocked the Biden had repaired whatever damage Trump had done to NATO and was able to add Finland, thereby encircling Russia even more, may be making Putin wish he didn't have quite such a delusion of grandeur.
Would have been better off letting sleeping dogs lie and selling gas and oil.

To me it’s very worrying that the senator thinks the only thing Ukraine is asking the US for is to pay for its defense against Russia when in fact, the US is providing along with other allies, the weapons, so what planet does he live on? It seems obvious to me that providing cash is one thing. But manufacturing weapons especiallt high tech weapons is something quite different. Oh my goodness. Is the senator losing touch with reality?
