   If someday an alien civilization would visit the earth, they would look down our combustion engines as rudimentary: molecules in the oil and coal are long chain carbon based but humankind uses it for the most rudimentary chemical reactions, aka burn it and make CO2 and H2O, what a waste of resources.

    That 2013 moment is very much similar to how Singaporean noticed how awfully filthy Singapore river is in early to mid 1970s. What follows next is obviously a massive, concerted and coordinated effort by the then late PM Lee Kuan Yew. Good luck doing that on the US / other democracies.     Only a loser listens to CNBC. I was in China 1990-2016, Guangdong region more specifically. Only after moving to New Orleans in 2016, and Washington State since 2018, did I realize how polluted Guangdong’s air quality was. I had constant respiratory illness in Guangdong for the first 25 years of my life due to the poor air quality. I had food poisoning every now and then in China reflected in my abdominal ache. My health received revolutionary improvement in Louisiana (the most unhealthy state in America), and another revolutionary improvement in Washington State.

    Whoever made this video is either intentionally deceiving or have not lived a single day of life as a commoner in China. And to see oceans of Chinese bots commenting well being praised by their irresponsible American counterparts, is truly comedic. Just do a search on the change of carbon emission of China vs America. America’s has been decreasing tremendously, while China’s has been skyrocketing. And remember, all statistics about China is overoptimistic.

    I guess only a Biden voter would thumb up this video.

    The reason why the US is falling behind is they're always trying to come up with excuses not to do anything.

    1990s: Climate change isn't real so let's not do anything.
    2000s: Climate change is real but we don't know if it's manmade. Let's not do anything.
    2010s: Okay, Climate change is real and it's manmade, but I don't like renewables/ what about China/ some rich people fly in private jets, so let's not do anything.

    When you have a subset of the population that is completely duped by the oil lobbyists into wanting to do absolutely nothing at all, then of course you're gonna end up falling behind. It would be awesome if we invested in things like nuclear and renewables but that would require doing something. If China ever becomes a dominant superpower, it's probably be because China invested in newer technologies, while the US dealing with partisan gridlock and continue to insist on (you guessed it) not doing anything at all.

    Story is only half the story. China's infastructure is newer…and they will never stop burning coal because you just can't recharge millions of cars without some sort of power source. Neither the US or CHina can power homes and recharge millions of cars….not yet anyway. THe US realizes that and we have to wait for the tech to get better. We also can't rely on China…who makes everything, to support our infastructure and theirs. We need to be able to support our own. Look what is happening now after Covid with all of the supply issues. China would be in a position of cut off our supply of solar and battery needs. Thanks CNBC…but its not all Trumps faulth thats an easy out isn't it. This has been an issue for decades. Now…what will we do with millions of toxic batteries when they are useless? Not all the batter components are recyclable. "Not only do these batteries require large amounts of raw materials, including lithium, nickel and cobalt – mining for which has climate, environmental and human rights impacts – they also threaten to leave a mountain of electronic waste as they reach the end of their lives."
