It mirrors the venomous speeches Adolf Hitler made saying that Jewish people were vermin that needed to be exterminated, which ushered in the Holocaust. Parents are giving up green card fights to get their kids out of immigrant jail: Marshall Project
In 2013, Ana Kikabidze was selected to receive a U.S. green card. When unforeseen circumstances hit she had to move back to her home country. When she came back to the U.S. in May with her children, the family was arrested and sent to the controversial detention center in Dilley, Texas. I love how even reasonably minded Americans (USA specifically) think that the USA is some golden beacon for society as a whole to emulate and envy. I’ve always wondered what kind of propaganda is needed for almost an entire population of a country to think all other nations are jealous of them, that they think they’re “the only country with freedom and democracy”, that they’re the only nation that has laws, that they’re the “greatest country on earth”. It goes beyond “patriotism”, and fully embrace nationalism. “It can’t happen here”; who do you think Hitler praised first racist and segregationist laws?? It what the USA!

Anyone who's studied the history of Germany before and during WW2 would recognize this rhetoric right off the bat.
