Noo, we're not defunding them; we're just taking the money meant for them and "reallocating" it to other departments! There's no defunding here!

The fact that he lies about "Defund" claiming it's different from Reallocating funds (properly termed Correctly Allocating funds) should disqualify the corporate shill for any normal voter.

I don't live in New York City but I believe that defunding any police department is absolutely stupid.
My belief is that funding for police department should be reallocated to reenforce DIESCULATION training. The blue wall should be focused on uplifting community involvement, not sheilding the bad apples/community bullies.
Repeal of the blanket immunity would be a good start.
    … just my uninformed opinion.

    January 7, 2024 at 12:48 pm

Does he really not understand what the original premise of "defund" means? If it is just the language (semantics) that throws people off, by all means, change it to "reallocation of funds," and proceed by also correctly defining the original, stated goal of "defund" wherever and whenever it is misapplied.

Defund the Police is such an idiotic confusing slogan that pretty much hands the GOP opposition exactly the kind of ammunition they want.

Defunding law enforcement is the STUPIDEST idea I've ever heard I think some people at protest get beyond themselves and start putting out unrealistic concepts like that .we need accountability for rogue officers yes.better temperament training yes…defunding NO!! If your being robbed or even worse the person screaming "defund "isnt going to show up and save you so you cant lean on a foolish idea like that.

  17. @tracyroweauthor

    January 7, 2024 at 12:48 pm

sure, put all the blame on the mentally ill. There needs to be help for the mentally ill, sure, but let's not pretend that ALL those committing violent crimes are mentally ill. The issues with gun violence in the inner cities aren't related to mental illness, they are related to crushing poverty, education inequality (schools in inner cities are often criminally underfunded) and lack of opportunity. Fix THOSE issues.
You want to get rid of gun crime, we need serious gun control. You want to get people to trust the police and don't want to defund? End qualified immunity. Retrain cops so their first reflex is not to shoot.
    Stop blaming the mentally ill.

UMMM DUH.. Just like Global warming doesn't actually mean the Globe is warming, when it actually addresses Extreme Climate Change, or how Science proved the God Particle exists, but that discovery does not prove God exists… Or how the Patriot Act has nothing to do with Patriotism. See what I'm getting at…. titles can be twisted into different meanings, especially by those who oppose that agenda and who's only argument against it is based on LIES about it's true agenda and then to play stupid when confronted with facts. Funny how our Politicians graduate from the most prestigious universities in the country, yet can't comprehend Climate Change or Fund Reallocation? WTF is really going on here? When these guys play stupid we should call their bluff and FIRED THESE FOOLS. VOTE THEM OUT.

Mehdi: When Trump shows you who he is, believe him

Published

on

By

The White House and the Biden-Harris campaign are slamming Donald Trump over his remarks that immigrants are “poisoning the blood of our country,” with critics likening his words to the rhetoric of WWII Germany.
The #Biden campaign said #Trump “parroted Adolf Hitler” while praising other dictators. The White House said “Echoing the grotesque rhetoric of fascists and violent white supremacists… [is] the opposite of everything we stand for as Americans.” MSNBC’s Mehdi Hasan argues Trump has long been showing us his fascist and dictatorial tendencies, and it’s time we believe him when he shows us that a second Trump presidency would mean “the end of American democracy.”
