   I I’m glad she said it equality of opportunity, that’s not the same as equality of outcome. Just because you have the same opportunities does not mean you will end up the same as someone who had the same opportunities. The outcome is designed to be different and I believe that is fair.

    Using race as a scapegoat for the affirmative action argument is ridiculous when the majority of people who benefited from affirmative action were white women. There are plenty of people from all ethnicities with intelligence and high test scores, but everyone will not receive the same opportunities. Let's stop being delusional.

Then to say there's nothing that people in public schools couldn't accomplish in comparison to him when he was in public school is irrelevant to the issue.     I used to get quite upset when I would have to circle “white” just because I thought that the people would think I was just like a lot of other kids. Too basic. Nothing special. But no one can change who they are! It’s ridiculous, “meritocracy over race based preferences.”

    Introduce legislation, that links nationwide average SAT score of African America students to corporate tax rate, bigger the SAT score: lower the rate. Don't know if this would work right away, but, at least this issue will be taken seriously, instead of putting a brandade on it and calling it fixed.

    It would be nice if we lived in a perfect world but we don't. We have to deal with the reality of what exists. If education is the key as many experts agree, thtn limiting those opportunities doesn't improve the situation. Family is inpirtant but it cannot achirve success as an isolated factor. This guy proposes a simplistic approach to problems. Its like saying we can end poverty by just printing more money. Please let's try living in the real world.

    He, like many, doesn't understand what "affirmative action" is for. Also, he doesn't compare to those "black kids" that he went to school with either. Suppose that they wanted to get rid of the things that permitted his parents to come into the US….would he be cool with that? The bs about not having 2 parents in the house is a load of crap. It's a good cop out, but it's still a load of crap. He can't "address the family structure"…LOL That is another good line that catches the ears of many, but there's not one thing he can do for that. The only reason that he's minutely accepted by so many is his financial status. He can speak all that he wants about his "views", but they're hollow because he cannot see the rest of the world from his permissable high tower. People that are in his circle are there because of his financial status. I bet that he wouldn't take an honest look at that group and tell of the "whos" that are in it.

Legacy admissions have to be remove to make a complete merit based admissions.

    IQ difference and how many hours your study effects you educational outcome. It has noting to do with white privilege or whatever. Asians have very high IQ and also happens to study more hours that any other group…. thats why they are the top.

    If 100% of the students/workers at Harvard or a major U.S. corporation were a certain ethnicity and they were all the most qualified in the pool of applicants that's still equality and a meritocracy. It's a harsh reality of equality but people have to accept it.

    We don’t need children to choose the best schools, we need to make all our schools the best schools—change how we teach subjects, put our teachers through some civics, and make sure they are there for all children—not just the ones they like or the ones their political views align with
