FYI: The debt ceiling is a limit, set by Congress, on the amount of borrowing the Treasury can do, currently $31.4 trillion. The Treasury hit that ceiling in January 2023 and has been taking what are known as “extraordinary measures” to keep paying the bills. But it will run out of maneuvering room sometime in the next several months, perhaps earlier, unless Congress acts. Because tax revenues aren’t sufficient to cover all federal spending, the federal government borrows a lot—an average of more than $7 billion per business day. Raising the debt ceiling doesn’t increase federal spending beyond what already has been approved by Congress; it simply allows the government to pay for purchases and obligations it already has made.

Shouldn't the politicians be spending their time on how to make America a better place than to waste their time to debate and fight over rounds of shutdowns? Surely there is some serious systemic issues in the US government?

Food for Thought!! Well, I agree, it's about how to spend our money, and if you're, referring to me, being ignorant! What right, do you have to call me ignorant; you do not know me for one! and the other! I'm not running this country and apparently, you're not either! So
Who is ignorant? The one that just sits on his Ass, does nothing, and does not fight for this country! one who does not ask questions or bring up concerns for our country, and our future for this country. We are not getting answers, just smoke screens from those running this country. Look at the top, running this country, look at the colleges, look what's happening in our country, I am a vet. Marine! My only daughter is in boot camp, as we speak! Marine! and I don't have the right to express my concerns. You say ignorant, you might want to look in the mirror and ask that question!! Food for Thought!!

There is something about Mike Johnson that doesn't seem right! What is he hiding?
Johnson makes $174,000 dollars a year but doesn't seem to have any money! Where is it going?
🤔According to AP in Oct 2023 Johnson " … was the Dean of a small Baptist law school that didn't exist."🤨 That has to be some sort of scam and it sounds like a scam that Trump would try and pull! Or does Johnson want to be another Jim Jones?

    my opinion 🦂

  30. @craigrussell7542

This is a sham. Johnson wants a shutdown and his buddies are in on it. This is their plan. Pretend to do something, but do nothing and gravely shake their heads. Thoughts and prayers, America.

It's all a plot – the delay to get a Speaker, the disagreement. Do you really think that Johnson doesn't want a shutdown? It'will be a shutdown where he can point fingers and blame others.

I believe that if the immigrants are guest of the president thancAmericans should just leave that to the president America should not give 1dime to take away from your families to tend yo other people problems Americans have their own struggles that we must build through,A wise man once said when americans dont have the things they need get together and build it ourselves.get it ourselves dont constantly America constantly keep fussing over issues they cant change except they close that boarder and deport them back home,Just lets began to tend to Americas buisness and allow them to make it do what it do as whatever they gona do what interest them when the Goal is to Keep America Safe, but beign vigilant seem Americans gona wind up keeping their own selves safe,as America has lost all hope in this govt which was what they wanted,to mess things up so bad until Americans give up.but we together give all Americans new hope, as they give them the old.

2:25 "Federal contractors would not get backpay if the government shuts down". I was a Federal contractor – we always worked through every shutdown and didn't miss paychecks. We were funded different than Federal workers. All the Federal workers were sent home, we stayed and were paid.

Its amazing that little mikey thinks house gop is stressed & need time off for Thanksgiving to destress before tackling the budget. They dont start before noon & only work an average of 123 days a yr. If we ran our homes like this, we'd be homeless & starving.

  47. @oscarwindham6016

    January 11, 2024 at 1:42 am

At the very heart of the entire impending "government shutdown disaster" is the perpetuated lie that we have a "national debt" while nothing could be further from the truth since the prerequisite for actually having a "debt" is to first "borrow" $s with the intent to "pay these $s back" which is impossible to do either since these $s are in fact, we the peoples' electronically generated $s.
What we have here is our new dream come true Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, either being incompetent or he's a liar since we do indeed have federal funding to – "Infinitum" – to quote Fed Chairman Powell, and without one cent of federal tax revenue being involved due to the advent of quantitative easing (QE) that is also called deficit spending and or what I call the reality of the Equity Spending (ES) process.
With Equity Spending, we're talking about the electronic generation of we the peoples' $s in order to meet federal expenditures when there are insufficient funds available from our defunct federal tax revenue system that will never, cannot ever, never be revived. Furthermore, the crux of the ES reality/process is that even though we the peoples' electronically generated ES, if you will, $s spend exactly the same as we the peoples' forty-hour workweek paycheck $s, it is nonetheless impossible to actually borrow or payback, for that matter, we the peoples' electronically generated ES $s because these ES $s are in fact, we the peoples' electronically generated ES $s, and YES, it is all just that simple, as far as "The Big Picture" is concerned.
To belabor the point is to say that Speaker Johnson doesn't have the intellect that would allow him to be able to grasp the reality of the Equity Spending process, or he is a liar, but in either case, he is proving to be unsuited for the job of being Speaker of the House.
The rules don't allow me to post the title to my quintessential fictional and non-fictional formatted book that fully illustrates the entire Equity Spending spectrum, but I can post my full name – Oscar Dean Windham.
