Donald Trump appeared in court today in yet another E. Jean Carroll defamation trial. According to Joe Scarborough, “Donald Trump is there because that’s the best political fuel he can get… He’s going into these courtrooms because of the grand spectacle.” NBC News’ entrance polls from last night’s Iowa Caucus found that 65% of Iowa Republicans say they still deem President Donald Trump fit to be president even if convicted of a crime.

Strong parallels with the late Roman Republic. Ultra conservatives (Optimates) vs the Populares. Both self interested and different sides of the same coin. Isn't that the point of acquitting him? To retain the weaponry of the Big Lie and it's vigilante army and to firmly establish the shadow presidency of the former president. Imagine oath abiding impartial jurors meeting with the defense team mid trial to discuss the defense. Terror will still reign at the Capitol. Hawley tweeted recently that he'd changed his seat in the impeachment hearings and that he now had "a clear shot" vantage point further away from the proceedings on the floor. Insidious. Wouldn't voting to acquit the former president amount to aiding and abetting a coup that has not even been acknowledged by the trump supporting senators and members of the house. Truly diabolic.

Have a write in vote. Everyone write either “guilty” or “acquit” on a ballot in the closed door senate room. Each person then puts their ballot in a box. That way they avoid disclosing how they voted. Some of these GOP senators are scared for themselves and their families.

This trial is ridiculous! As for the riot, failure to prepare, plan and put adequate security in place is the problem with January 6, 2021. If anyone at the Capital felt Trump insighted riots over the past year or so, whoever is responsible for security should have logically thought to put adequate protection and guards at the Capital. Not just 5 or a few. How did they manage to put gas mask under everyone's chair? They must have anticipated something, but didn't plan to prevent it!
