   In a sense, this can start as early as elementary or junior high school. Peer pressure to be "cool", dress a certain way, be a "man" or "woman" (as appropriate), can also function as a quasi-cult. I'd put the pre-Civil Rights South in such a category, especially outside the major cities. Brainwashed by the social climate into thinking "Blacks are inferior, etc.". I found the safe way is this: if the person or group tells you that so-and-so group is beneath them due to nitpicky, non-character aspects of their personhood, then it's time to keep your guard up. Even more so if they promote physical or emotional hurt, harm, or degradation of the target outside of truly defensive reasons (bullying, bigotry, hate crime).

   The real cultists are the ones that think an insurrection can be carried out by unarmed people who were let into the building by the Capitol Police. And in fact the only death occurred when an unarmed women was shot in the face by a cop

   Single best thing we could do is put Trump in pre-trial detainment. The cultists need to have him in their face 24/7 spewing his magic words that control them. Trump out-of-sight would quickly turn into Trump out-of-mind. That’s probably the only chance his followers have for coming back to reality, their friends and family. An intervention on a national scale.

    If anyone has watched the series "How to become a cult leader" you will very easily connect all the strategies to Trump…in the last episode there is a picture of Don Jr. with the Son of the Moon cult.

    I have to disagree that people in the MAGA cult need empathy. This is the ego at play, protecting them from the scary world and believing that Trump will save them, similar to a religion. The ego has to be torn down, and the way to do that is to destroy it by shoving cold, hard truths in their face. Life humbles you when you are faced with tragedy and truth. These people have zero self-awareness, so the only way to reach them is to point out their hate in the moment, continue to show them when they're wrong and relentlessly show them truths that dispel their thinking. Ignoring it and hoping they will one day see the light is not a good idea. You have to get on their level.
