This guy knows nothing, tell him to watch WWDC , no other company is updating thier API every year for making apps every year like apple. They literally have thier own programming language language which is called Swift. Now they have thier own apple silicon.

They make $10,000 computers and phones and watches in designer colors and finishes. They're a luxury good company.

Back in the 80s they were truly cutting edge, but today they just make jewelry, accessories, and really expensive PCs that don't run Windows.

Its an ecosystem. Where things work extremely smoothly and without any ads.

He is dead wrong on Apple. Apple is a technology company with unparalleled capabilities in software, hardware, UI and the entire ecosystem with virtually no competition that is even a billion miles near them. For example: if you are a musician you can record, mix, edit produce and release your record on an iPhone. Try doing that on a Pixel or a Samsung. If you are a movie maker you can shoot, edit, mix, soundtrack, mix and match video, stills, audio, text, backgrounds and this list goes on…. in a few minutes on an phone without ever having to use anything else. Try doing that on any other single device on this planet. These are just two examples, there are several more. Of course the argument may be, well how many people actually use these capabilities? Well you will be surprised at how many new people are creating content on an iPhone even as you bean counters in Colourful ties guys sit around and discuss all day. Content only increases with time in this world and Apple is the cheapest, easiest and simplest way to make content for an average Sam like me!

I own AAPL shares ONLY because, for whatever reason, Apple is a cash cow. Smart phones are no longer phones, it’s a camera that can make calls and send text messages.

  32. @bujin5455

    January 13, 2024 at 7:36 am

Chamath deeply misunderstands Apple if he thinks their products are like Android's with the addition of a brand premium. Apple provides a consolidated ecosystem which is tantamount to a digital lifestyle platform, which Android doesn't even come close to. Every single Apple product not only is very polished, stable, and doesn't sell your data (which is a real concern in this age), but there is a HUGE amount of platform leverage, because your iPhone integrates with your iPad, your Apple watch, and your Mac. So you immediately gain a huge amount of value in that integration. You buy an Android phone, a Tizen OS Watch, an Android tablet, and a Windows computer, and integration is not going to be the name of the game. There is REAL value in the following facts: Apple's products just work, are easily updated, integrate with each other, don't turn your data into a product (and all that means), Apple take's owner ship of the entire experience end to end, the user experience is curated and made easy for the non-technical, Apple safe guards the entire experience at every single touch point. People pay Apple's prices simply because the Apple experience is unmatched, and that's not just a question of brand, that's a question of the intrinsic value people place on Apple treating the most intimate items in their lives (their digital selves) with profound care and respect. As the world becomes increasingly more digital that digital experience becomes more important as well.

  33. @andreasjanen6617

    January 13, 2024 at 7:36 am

He really knows what he is talking about
Apple sells low cost products to high prices ..better than lvmh …

  34. @thelanguagenut1769

    January 13, 2024 at 7:36 am

The one thing he fails to mention is that Apple also has their iOS operating system. This is one of the device’s biggest draws as it creates such a seamless and dynamic experience for the user. Big overlook.

Meta Is Facing Its Biggest Trial Yet, And Its Future Hangs In The Balance

Published

on

By

Meta is facing what could be its most consequential trial yet, as 29 state attorneys general accuse the tech giant of knowingly designing Facebook and Instagram to addict children and misleading the public about the risks. The states are seeking civil penalties that could approach $200 billion and changes to core features like infinite scroll and autoplay, while Meta says the claims are unsubstantiated and that it has built strong protections for teens. The outcome of the federal trial could reshape how social media platforms are designed and open the door to greater liability for companies across the industry. CNBC’s Julia Boorstin examines why this case could become Big Tech’s “Big Tobacco” moment, and what a loss could mean for Meta’s business and the future of social media.
