   Ahhh CNBC I believe Tyler Perry has a huge Film and Production facility there as well…..How did you miss that? Oh maybe because he's not part of "Hollywood" But did his own thing.

    I officially entered the film industry back in the mid 90's. and even then the studios were looking to leave California to make the move to key east coast states. Back then, Atlanta Georgia was often the first pick, New York was another pick but did have its issues, as the very reasons for leaving California was due to high taxes and high costs. There was already a lot of location filming and in NY not to mention much of the business end of Hollywood was also situated in NY where their parent companies were headquartered. Montreal Canada was also a major draw. There was also the benefit of Broadway and theater work for actors. logistics was an issue for NY, building new large sound stages and the costs their in. The Carolina's and Georgia didn't have those issues. in fact it already had Turner and ESPN, along with a few others that proved the move to ATL was a promising idea along with tax incentives and plenty of great real estate. so what happened? The VFX boom of the 90's. Computer animation and vfx created a new generation of film making, and many of those tech career operations were smack dab in California. All these film ideas that sat in volts collecting dust could now be brought to life because computers dramatically reduced the cost and time for productions. And so the summer blockbusters came. each with newer and better levels of vfx. it brought in billions but also inflated the cost of living in California. extreme greed and the growth of silicon valley made California the place to be. a new bubble that seemingly would never pop. but it did, by the weight of its own greed and inflation. what was once a benefit in production had been manipulated into a burden of labor and ever climbing costs. Hollywood can no longer carry the expense to produce films in California, but you can only move to places that have both sources of skilled labor and actually facilities to make the transition. aka Georgia.

    Tyler Perry has a full size REPLICA of the White House on his studio and a lot of filming involving the White House takes place there for multiple productions.

    He did so much push of local content in Georgia in his early days even before he built Tyler Perry Studios.

    He should have been given much more mention, for his promoting Georgia and the activities in his studio for various companies in this video by CNBC.

    Isn’t George a very dangerous place for film production? I mean there’s racism, extreme right wing groups, and any Hollywood actors or film makers who move to Georgia will be targeted for some sort of hate crime.

    What exactly is a tax credit?
    Does it mean the studios are paying less taxes or are they doing the equivalent of making the state pay taxes to the studio? In either case, who is picking up the tab?
    Is George effectively paying the motivation picture industry to be in the state?

    Though then-Governor Jimmy Carter established the Georgia Film Office in the early 1970’s, David O. Selznick really started all this in 1939, when he decided to host the world premiere of his epic “Gone With The Wind” not in Hollywood, but here in Atlanta at the Loew’s Grand theater; the entire cast, including Clark Gable, Vivien Leigh, and Olivia de Havilland, were there. Another premiere would follow at that same Loew’s Grand in 1961 to commemorate the Civil War Centennial (the theater was destroyed by fire in the late ‘70s and torn down for the Georgia-Pacific Tower).

    BUT…aren’t we forgetting Orlando, Florida? All during the ‘90s, tons of film and TV productions were done there as Disney and Universal had studio lots right on their theme parks; until Atlanta, they were the Hollywood of the South.
