It's been 10 years since Google withdrew from the Chinese market, I am surprised to see this American journalist stigmatizes China for banning U.S. tech companies maliciously without showing any credible proof. For your information, companies like Google and Facebook refused to comply with Chinese laws to censor certain information/message/post that contains sexual content, heresies, extreme ideas or terror and therefore shut down by the Chinese government. There are legal bases to support this series of government actions. On the other hand, Trump's mad actions toward WeChat and TikTok is by no means a "justified retaliation" to China. It's an absurd accusation sugarcoated by the so-called national security threat and a pure distraction made to cover his failure to control the coronavirus and the recent economic malaise. Don't be fooled and do your own research before buying his nonsense.

Personally I don’t care for Tik Tok I never used it and none of my friends and family have it. i seen to many people do stupid things for the unsatisfied thirst for “likes”
I know a ton of you are going to hate me saying this. But I hope Wechat stays since my parents are chinese and they use the app to talk to families and old geezer friends back in Macau and Hong Kong. Also my parents are basically cavemen when it comes to technology…they don’t care for FaceTime nor know how to text. It took me almost forever to try to figure Wechat’s stupid security requirements on the first try.

Common CNBC. If China is banning American companies and will not face the same retaliation in the USA then it is clearly taking advantage, it is not that hard to understand. So from a Chinese perspective, the USA is seen to be weak. They do not care about moral issues, they only care about money which they can steal from the USA.
