I’m surprised the plug didn’t fall through the roof, on some random car, or person.

Bottom line… Alaskan airlines maintenance messed as they had several warnings before this mishap occurred.

Boeing has a documented history of shoddy craftsmanship.
    From 2019

By Maria Jose Valero and Jim Silver / Bloomberg News

Boeing’s factory in North Charleston, South Carolina, one of two plants that produces the 787 Dreamliner, has faced problems with production and oversight that create a safety threat.

The Times cited a review of internal emails, corporate documents and federal records, as well as interviews with more than a dozen current and former employees.

Faulty parts have been installed in some of the planes, and metal shavings were often left inside the jets. A technician at the plant, Joseph Clayton, said he routinely found debris dangerously close to wiring beneath cockpits.

Boeing bean counters must be saying, "The plugged door blew off? Good because that must have made the aircraft lighter and saved Alaska a few gallons of fuel."

Boeing has definitely fallen from grace. The new Air Force 1 contract should have been given to Airbus. No shame to err on the side of caution.

Hmm, this remonds me of Airport, a 1970 air disaster–drama film by George Seaton, featured Burt Lancaster and Dean Martin. It was about a Boeing 707 that had to land in a snowstorm with a huge door sized hole near the tail.

Found the voice recorder? It still should be in the plane. Or you should have said the voice recorder had been erased. You make sound like the plane crashed but everyone survived. 😮
