Meta Is Facing Its Biggest Trial Yet, And Its Future Hangs In The Balance
Meta is facing what could be its most consequential trial yet, as 29 state attorneys general accuse the tech giant of knowingly designing Facebook and Instagram to addict children and misleading the public about the risks. The states are seeking civil penalties that could approach $200 billion and changes to core features like infinite scroll and autoplay, while Meta says the claims are unsubstantiated and that it has built strong protections for teens. The outcome of the federal trial could reshape how social media platforms are designed and open the door to greater liability for companies across the industry. CNBC’s Julia Boorstin examines why this case could become Big Tech’s “Big Tobacco” moment, and what a loss could mean for Meta’s business and the future of social media.

George Conway: ‘Lying, intimidating, bullying. That’s Trump at his worst, and that’s Trump always’

I think cloud computing may have a profitable 2018 but near the end of 2018 and 2019 it is going to fall off a cliff because decentralized cloud services are going to decimate the whole industry. Decentralized networks will be able to provide instant, always-on, load-balanced, flexible, scalable and dirt-cheap cloud data storage, hosting and processing. You'll pay micro-payments to various computers throughout the world with a cryptocurrency and people will have no problem undercutting traditional cloud services by 90%+ because it just uses up bandwidth, storage and CPU cycles that would have been idle otherwise.
