A former police officer and use-of-force expert, Barry Brodd, for the defense testified Tuesday he believed Derek Chauvin “was justified” in his actions and acted reasonably during his fatal encounter with George Floyd. Katie Phang says the defense ‘failed today:’ “Brodd was unlikable, I don’t know why the Defense put him on … If you ask the jurors to put themselves in the shoes of Derek Chauvin, none of them are going to say what that cop did reasonable.” Aired on 04/13/2021.

Donald Trump and Elon Musk are passing blame back and forth for a disruption in the Starshield service that Ukraine relies on in running operations to defend itself from Russia’s war. The Washington Post reports the White House is holding up the transfer of Patriot missiles to Ukraine on the same day a new report in the Wall Street Journal reveals Elon Musk ordered the slowdown of a military-grade version of Starlink relied on by Ukraine, resulting in confusion from Kyiv to Washington, D.C. Plus, Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed that discussions are underway about a summit with President Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping to negotiate an end to the war in Ukraine — but Ukrainian President Zelenskyy would not be included.
