    If anyone thinks what we have done for our teachers. (And what we haven’t) is Enough for them to handle these situations. That’s absolutely absurd and we are clearly never going to get anywhere with gun laws.

    Shot in the lung and back layed there for 77 min before he got help and 2 weeks later already up doing interviews looking okay. I DONT THINK SO PEOPLE .223 to the lung you are not laying there for 77 min you would be dead this think stinks

    This guy didn't get shot in the arm and lung and shot in the back by two 5.56mm NATO rounds at close or point blank range and bleed out for a hour and twenty-minutes giving interviews! He's much more likely dead or by divine intervention he survives, he's in the Intensive Care Unit! Salvador Ramos has a hour and twenty minutes to make sure this guy is dead. Gives new meaning to the term "unbelievable."

    Robb Elementary: Communications Failure

    I am a former law enforcement officer. I now teach little ones, the same age as the babies in Uvalde. Texas is no different from any other state in that we have multiple police agencies in any given radius with different command structures. But that does NOT hinder or eliminate communications. For example, take Houston. There is Houston PD, Harris County SO, five Harris Constable Offices, state troopers assigned to Harris County, and the school police agency.

    Adjacent agencies have their radios programmed so that officers can scan and monitor neighboring agencies to assist and minimize harm. Therefore, of most of the responding officers, they should have heard the dispatchers’ communications—regardless of agency: Uvalde CUISD, UPD, UCSO, TXDPS HP R6, or USCBP.

    Let’s say the public safety answering point (PSAP) were UPD that received one of the 9-1-1 calls. All neighboring agencies would have heard the transmissions.

    To be fair, there is a priority programmed into each agency’s radio systems. For example, in terms of HPD, their transmissions would take priority before another agency’s. In other words, in the event that that that were traffic on HPD’s and HCSO’s priority channels (channel 1) simultaneously, each respective agency would receive its prioritize transmission that overrode secondary transmissions.

    When I was a police officer, we knew each officer’s unit numbers. For example, when I heard 662 on the radio, I knew that it was Corporal Jane Doe. That’s how small communities work.

    Just about EVERY ONE of those officers was able to hear radio communications from neighboring agencies.

    Again, 9-1-1 is designed to route calls to closest agencies. Given the scan-and-monitor capabilities, most of those officers should have heard the dispatches. If UPD got the call, all neighboring agencies who had their radios on scan heard it. If UCISDPD got the call, same thing. If UCSO got it, same. If TX DPS got it, same.

    After Columbine, we completed extensive training for such—ALONE, no backup, no tactical gear, save or die. Each of us entered scenarios ALONE, and we had to take out the bad guys—ALONE.

    Remember the burglar bars that were awesome—until they prevented victims from escaping from fire in their emblazoned homes? What about a master key?

    Hardening the classrooms was a great idea, but did we create an obstacle for ourselves? No one thought to have a master key like we have for fire departments at gated communities? Did we set up our children?

    As with the rest of the civilized and selfless world, I’d like to know why. WHY???

    Why are AR-15s on the market? WHY????

    Remember when teachers didn't want to arm themselves? Does the teacher realise if he had a gun whilst working in a school in the most dangerous country in the world he himself could of helped.
    The decision for armed teachers is down to each school. He chose to work and not have one.
    If you work in an American school it should be mandatory to have gun training & be armed.
    America needs to stop being delusional, it's not lala land. It's America.
    Egypt has armed police on every hotel. You guys can't even protect your kids? Is America poor?
