Reviewing Apple’s New 5th Generation iPad Mini
Apple’s new iPad Mini was updated for the first time since 2015 with a new A12 processor and a better display. It’s very good and, at $399, is worth considering if you’re in the market for a new iPad. It’s portable but still powerful enough to do pretty much everything that bigger iPads can do
CNBC’s Todd Haselton reviews the long-awaited Apple iPad Mini, a powerful but small tablet that fans of the more compact form factor will love.
The iPad Mini has a cult-like following. The 7.9-inch screen is small enough for you to carry it around like a mini-notebook or slide it into a jacket pocket or purse, while providing many of the same features of its larger iPad counterparts. It’s been so popular that Apple continued to sell it for three and a half years without updating it.
That finally changed earlier this week when Apple announced a refreshed version with a faster processor and a better display, plus support for the first-generation Apple Pencil so you can use it like a notebook — although, weirdly, it does not work with the newest version of the Pencil.

Why Ford Is Making A $5 Billion Bet On EVs
Despite a massive slowdown in EV adoption, Ford Motor is continuing to move forward with its next generation of EVs. Ford’s continued confidence, albeit at lower and slower rate than it previously projected, comes from its “Universal Electric Vehicle,” or UEV platform, which the company has developed from a clean-sheet design. Ford’s goal for UEV is to be profitable and cost-competitive with global EV leaders from China and Tesla. The UEV is expected to be critical to Ford transforming its Model e EV unit from billions of dollars in annual losses to breakeven by 2029. The company has said its future EVs will be profitable within a year of launching. The first planned product based on the UEV is a roughly $30,000 midsize pickup truck for the U.S. market next year, followed by a family of vehicles underpinned by the platform.

Why America’s ‘K-Shaped’ Economy Is Here To Stay
America’s wealth gap has been widening for decades, but the COVID-19 pandemic intensified the unequal disparity between the rich and the rest of the country, something classified as a “K-shaped” recovery. Today, the wealthiest consumers are spending at record-highs, while the rest of the country struggles to afford basic necessities like housing and groceries. CNBC’s Alex Harring breaks down the concept.
