Bitcoin surpassed $111,000 for first time, driven by increasing institutional demand and support from Donald Trump’s administration.
A wave of optimism is buoying Bitcoin after advancement of a key stablecoin bill in US senate fueled hopes of greater regulatory clarity for digital-asset firms.
Bitcoin’s outperformance relative to smaller cryptocurrencies is widening, with an index that tracks so-called altcoins down about 40% year-to-date, while Bitcoin is up 18% so far in 2025. Bloomberg Intelligence’s Mike McGlone reports.

US CPI comes in hot for August

The so-called core consumer price index — which excludes food and energy costs — increased 0.3% from July, the most in four months, and 3.2% from a year ago, Bureau of Labor Statistics figures showed Wednesday.
