RIEKE COMMON …always lived a very extravagant fashionable lifestyle and decided very early to turn this passion into a profession – building a base with a Masters of Fashion Design.Her great talent was also discovered by companies like Bernd Berger and Strenesse, who hired Rieke shortly after graduation. In 1999 Rieke Common left Germany to make a dream become true. She moved to New York City to work as a designer under the legendary Oscar de la Renta. Three years later she returns to her roots in Munich Germany and became the Creative Director of the Couture House RENA LANGE, where she set new standards. Much experience, creativity and zest for becoming an entrepreneur lead Rieke Common to realize another dream, MAISON COMMON. Her own label- her own particular vision of fashion. Since then this powerful woman and mother of two children twirls around to bring her vision into the hearts of women and make them feel very special.

The Fortezza da Basso witnessed a masterclass in Italian footwear heritage as Cuoio di Toscana took center stage at Pitti Uomo 110.
The renowned consortium, which has championed the pinnacle of Made in Italy sole leather for over forty years, unveiled “He(ART)” – a limited-edition capsule collection born from a creative alliance with world-renowned footwear designer Paul Andrew.
Presented to an exclusive global audience of press, opinion leaders, and international guests in Florence, the dynamic exhibition brought the leather to life. Models traversed the space, showcasing a collection in which sole leather is treated not merely as a technical component but as an expression of pure identity and sculptural art.
The showcase featured standout designs like Softy, an ultra-flexible unisex loafer; Facet, a striking sandal with a jewel heel mimicking Cuoio di Toscana’s iconic green; and Intertwist, a series defined by intricate, handwoven leather strips.
Crucially, the presentation looked to the future. The runway styling was developed in collaboration with young, emerging talents from Istituto Marangoni Firenze, cementing the Consortium’s dedication to passing generational craftsmanship down to the next wave of global design.
As a perfect convergence of heritage tanneries, contemporary mastery, and youth innovation, “He(ART)” marks only the opening chapter of an international journey for Cuoio di Toscana this season.

http://youtube.com/FashionTV – RIO DE JANEIRO While Fashion Rio is typically known for beach and swimwear, this season’s Summer 2012 collections are taking their shows to a whole new level by becoming a provocative platform for collections by new designers. One designer is Lucas Nascimento, who specialized in knitwear at the London College of Fashion. He used his knitwear speciality to create an array of pieces for the 2nd Floor label. Many of his creations were slim with a minimalist silhouette, but with a bold use of colors and contrasting textures (for example, fur knits mixed with leather.) Set with a colorful background that displayed a prominent 2nd Floor logo, this collection is one to watch at Fashion Rio this season.
