Embrace the irony and nostalgia of the fall/winter 2026-2027 show of Moschino presented at Milan Fashion Week!

Moschino Creative Director Adrian Appiolaza takes us on a deeply personal yet universal journey titled “Terra.” Drawing from his childhood roots in Argentina, Appiolaza translates the spirit of his homeland through the unmistakable Moschino lens of wit, affection, and “tongue-in-chic” irony.

The runway serves as a vibrant map, charting a path from the sophisticated urbanity of Buenos Aires to the rustic charm of the countryside, celebrating a cast of characters that are both local archetypes and global icons.

The collection is a masterclass in contradiction, where Franco Moschino’s legacy of exploding cliches meets Appiolaza’s nostalgic curiosity. Child-like exaggerations transform silhouettes: bourgeois ladies, soccer-obsessed teens, and gauchos of the Pampas populate the scene alongside three-dimensional knitted llamas.

Landmarks like the Obelisco and the decorative swirls of Fileteado Porteño provide a rich visual backdrop. In a brilliant crossover of icons, the famous cartoon character Mafalda, created by the legendary Quino, makes her debut, standing as a modern counterpart to the brand’s historic love for Olive Oyl. “Terra” pushes boundaries by displacing the familiar. Elaborate ruffles are reimagined in latex, while heritage broderie anglaise tablecloths are draped into high-fashion gowns.

Sharp tailoring paying homage to the silhouette of Evita showcases the superlative craft of the Moschino DNA, while trompe l’oeil accessories – including a “bag” of churros and silver photographic frames – capture the brand’s signature sense of displacement.

Closing with a joyful tango of ruffles and movement, the collection proves that at Moschino, fashion is a serious sense of humor and a celebration of individual truth.

Makeup Artist Peter Philips said Karl wanted a white detail in the makeup “because when you look at the collection, shoes and the handbags, there are some white little details everywhere,” he explains. “We went for this chalky, feathery brushstroke.”

Top model Natasha Poly calls the braids she wears in her hair for the collection “clean and beautiful.” She adds, “It’s really flattering. We all look really fresh.” American model Heidi Mount also loves the hair and makeup. “It’s very contradictory,” she says. “It was kind of a dark, Nordic look,” says Hairstylist Sam McKnight, who says he made lots of braids, but they were roped braids, not 2 section braids, which are typically the norm. He called it sharp and dark.

American Vogue Editor-In-Chief Anna Wintour heads backstage before the show. Other collection commentators include the designer himself, Karl Lagerfeld, Cathy Horyn from The New York Times, Ken Downing from Neiman Marcus, and Lady Amanda Harlech.

Model Kati Nescher from Joy and Viva modeling agencies opens the show. The collection is full of tough leather with linebacker shoulders, additions of fur, mink, pleats, and wool fabrics. “The important thing in this collection is for me that sometimes the front of the dresses is totally unrelated to the back of the dress,” Fendi designer Karl Lagerfeld says. The materials are new or high-quality classic wool, cut with a razor blade, not heavy hems.

Experienced Fashion Week hairstylist Orlando Pita is animated as he shows his team the updo that Diane von Furstenberg wants for her Spring/Summer 2012 fashion show at New York Fashion Week. It’s a retro tucked updo from the 50s and 60s. He explains the updo as model Caroline Brasch Nielsen poses for the camera. “It’s all about a new beginnings and fresh starts, so we don’t want to finish it too much,” he explains. Model Joan Smalls tells FashionTV that they just did a rehearsal for the show. What does she say about the collection? “It’s very spring. The colors are very nice.” Model Juju Ivanyuk tells us what she thinks of DVF. “She’s an amazing woman. She’s very nice and sweet.” After New York, Juju is doing shows in Milan and Paris. “She’s very energetic,” agrees model Jacquelyn Jablonski. Model Leslie from Click is doing her first ever runway show with Diane von Furstenberg. “It’s a mixture of emotions,” she says.

The lady of the hour talks about the inspiration behind the collection for this season. “At first, when we were designing the fabrics, the inspiration came from Africa,” she says, “Modern Africa, the Africa of today, and also Africa is the center of the world so the Africa of today is so strong…It’s about hope,” she says, “So it’s either utilitarian work clothes or very overdone and very festive.”

Also, the show takes place on 9/11 and DVF understands that so she thought to call the show Beginning because it’s about hope, light, and optimism.
