Chris Hayes: Trump’s “distorted, refracted, reality” shaped by content intake

Published

on

It can be pretty difficult to tell what’s real from what’s not online. From AI videos being posted online by everyday people to President Trump posting photoshopped content, trying to parse through what’s fake from what’s not can feel a bit confusing to say the least. Jia Tolentino, a staff writer at the New Yorker, wrote a piece all about this titled, “My Brain Finally Broke.” In the essay, she points out that much of the world is “slipping beyond [her] comprehension.” Tolentino joins “Why Is This Happening? The Chris Hayes podcast to discuss how AI is changing our perception of the world, how online content can make us more likely to detach from reality and more. Note: this episode was recorded on 6/11/25.
