Both Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister addressed the UN General Assembly Thursday.

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas addressed the UN via video after again being denied an entry visa by the Trump administration. He called on global leaders to hold Israel accountable and for the implementation of the stalled 20-point Gaza ceasefire plan.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu lambasted Tehran, dramatically claiming that if he hadn’t attacked Iran, “we’d all be dead.” He also defended Israel’s war in Gaza. Netanyahu provoked a polarized reaction as he took to the podium, and a large number of diplomats walked out of the room. Others stood and applauded the Israeli leader. “If there are any other moral cowards who haven’t yet left this hall, please do so now,” Netanyahu said.

The Trump administration unveiled a new White House helipad on Monday, but Trump’s decision to ban specific news outlets backfired during the ceremony. Because of the ban, the media organizations that make up the official press pool boycotted the event entirely. While some non-pool cameras captured the ribbon-cutting, the lack of pool audio technicians meant virtually none of the president’s remarks could be heard.
