‘They’re scared of voters’: Texas Dem defends walkout as Gov. Abbott threatens retaliation
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott is threatening to arrest or expel Democratic lawmakers who fled the state to block a Trump-backed congressional map that could net Republicans five more House seats. On #MorningJoe, Texas State Rep. Ann Johnson defended the walkout, calling it “the most important thing I can do” to protect voters: “The governor’s threats over the last 24 hours show just how scared they are of voters next November.”

Graham Platner won the Maine Democratic Senate primary, clinching the nomination to face Sen. Susan Collins, a Republican whom national Democrats hope to topple on their way to recapturing control of the Senate in November.
The political newcomer triumphed at the ballot box despite allegations that roiled his campaign before Election Day: that he sexted women outside of his marriage and that he behaved in a demeaning way to some former girlfriends, including two incidents in which he was allegedly physically menacing to one of them. Platner denied those incidents.
