Alibaba Jumps After AI Budget Hiked Past $50 Billion, Jimmy Kimmel Returns | The Pulse 9/24/2025

Alibaba shares surged to their highest in nearly four years after revealing plans to ramp up AI spending past an original $50 billion-plus target, joining tech leaders pledging ever-greater sums toward a global race for technological breakthroughs. In the US, late-night host Jimmy Kimmel took a conciliatory tone in his return to TV Tuesday night, choking up at several points and saying “it was never my intention to make light of the death of a young man,” as he addressed the controversy about his remarks last week over the shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
