Anthropic AI Tool Sparks Stocks Selloff

Published

on

A new AI automation tool from Anthropic PBC sparked a $285 billion rout in stocks across the software, financial services and asset management sectors on Tuesday. The selloff started before the US market opened on Tuesday as traders pointed to a release on the Anthropic website as the reason behind steep declines in the shares of credit and marketing services company Experian, business and legal software maker RELX and the London Stock Exchange Group. Bloomberg Intelligence’s Matthew Bloxham breaks down the situation.

US-Iran Interim Deal Takes Effect | The Pulse 06/18/2026

Published

on

President Trump signed an interim deal to end the war with Iran and reopen the Strait of Hormuz, speeding up the timeline for the agreement to go into effect despite blowback from Republicans who said it amounted to a victory for Tehran.

The Fed left interest rates unchanged, but signaled growing support for a rate hike this year. Chairman Kevin Warsh put his stamp on the US central bank with a bevy of changes, including a policy statement less than half the usual length. He also declined to contribute to the so-called “dot plot,” and said he’s appointing task forces to look at central bank functions.

EU leaders are gathering in Brussels for a two-day summit. High on the agenda is Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Leaders are also expected to discuss how to handle upcoming trade talks with Beijing and explore possible responses — including new trade tools.

Today’s guests: Philippe Botteri, Accel Partner; Alexandra Dublanche, Choose Paris Region President; Stephan Mayer, Trumpf CEO for Machine Tools; Andris Kulbergs, Latvian Prime Minister; Giorgio Pradelli, EFG International CEO

“The Pulse With Francine Lacqua” is all about conversations with high profile guests in the beating heart of global business, economics, finance and politics. Based in London, we go wherever the story is, bringing you exclusive interviews and market-moving scoops.
