Hairstylist Orlando Pita has the scoop on the hair look for the collection (0:28) “It’s a little bit of a girl who has a kind of boyish side and she’s been dancing at this club Sound Factory in New York in the late 80s, early 90s, and so we have a boy part on the top which is really slicked down and scraped right across the forehead and then the girl part on the bottom which is just hanging straight hair.”
Makeup Artist Val Garland calls the makeup look a “techno nude on the eye so it’s like an iced white bolt of lightening on the inner corner and the outer corner.” (1:12) The rest of the face is just beautiful porcelain with a matte finish and highlights. The feeling is that she’s in a club, it’s late, and she’s still dancing.
“I wanted to open the window of my wardrobe of my woman and get like a more human attitude and I thought that the most human place for me is New York so I wanted to get a New Yorkese kind of attitude and I wanted to bring my group of friends from downtown up to uptown,”says designer Giambattista Valli, (2:39) who starts his collection with black and white prints. There was an interesting mix of hand knits with digital prints. Valli also put sweaters and jackets over items that looked like they had been worn the night before and included shoes that looked like they were about to come off. Red is also a strong color here as well as gold, which is seen in an embossed leather coat worn by model Joan Smalls. Later, an art deco theme (buildings in New York perhaps?) comes into play here.
