US Weighs Saudi Nuclear Partnership
Carnegie Endowment Vice President Corey Hinderstein says a US civil nuclear agreement with Saudi Arabia could strengthen a long-term strategic partnership but also raises difficult nonproliferation questions, particularly over uranium enrichment and the precedent it could set for other countries. She says expanding civilian nuclear power can support energy security and lower emissions, but only if accompanied by strong safeguards, international monitoring and careful controls over sensitive nuclear technologies.

Trump Threatens To Strike Iran Bridges, Power Plants | Balance of Power 07/22/2026
“Balance of Power: Late Edition” focuses on the intersection of politics and global business. On today’s show, Senator Elissa Slotkin (D-MI) says the Trump administration is undercounting the cost of the war with Iran and must be more transparent before Congress approves additional Pentagon funding. Israel’s UN Ambassador Danny Danon says New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, rather than Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, “should be arrested.” His comments came after Mamdani called on the federal government to act on the International Criminal Court’s arrest warrant for Netanyahu if the Israeli leader visits New York. Bob McNally, founder and president of Rapidan Energy Group, warns oil prices could move sharply higher if the conflict around the Strait of Hormuz expands to the Red Sea, warning that the market has largely exhausted the buffers that helped contain the initial shock.
