Netanyahu Bloc Falls Short as Iran Diplomacy Picks Up Across the Region

Published

on

Israel moves into coalition negotiations after Netanyahu’s bloc finishes ahead but remains short of the 61 seats needed for a majority. Arab parties could become decisive, while Gadi Eisenkot remains central to the post-election talks.
Diplomacy with Iran also gathers pace. Tehran says it is still giving negotiations a chance, while Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Pakistan and Qatar remain involved in regional discussions. Trump says JD Vance offered medical supplies to Iran and denies directing him to contact Tehran. Oil slips as traders weigh diplomatic progress against continued Gulf security risks.
Markets turn cautious after mixed technology earnings. Alphabet revives concerns about AI spending, Samsung disappoints and UMC shares fall, while Microsoft’s cloud strength offers a more positive signal. Advantest announces a ¥280 billion buyback. Josh Gilbert of eToro says AI demand remains strong, but investors are becoming more selective.
The Fed holds rates in a 10–2 vote, with Cook and Hammack favoring a hike, and signals that future decisions will depend on incoming data. The Fed also plans to reduce its annual rate-setting decisions to six. Markets still see a high chance of another hike in December, while Sree Kochugovindan of Aberdeen Investments says communication remains critical.
FAB reports stronger-than-expected third-quarter results. Saudi oil exports remain resilient despite recent attacks, while ADNOC is said to be preparing a new Hormuz bypass pipeline for early 2027.
Elsewhere, Deutsche Telekom is reported to be slowing work on a T-Mobile merger, Hyundai India lifts its outlook, Hitachi disappoints on earnings and guidance, and Daewoo E&C beats profit estimates. Ooredoo also reports stronger revenue.
In Africa, Congo’s Ebola outbreak passes 10,000 cases as misinformation complicates the response and a vaccine trial begins. Absa opens a Dubai office as part of its international expansion.
Also in focus: the UK budget, Spain’s investigation into a deadly rail crash, Merz on Europe-Asia ties and EU auto rules, Pakistan reopening airspace to Taiwanese airlines, the ECB decision and reports that Christine Lagarde could leave as early as November, and US scrutiny of Nvidia’s Hugging Face deal. Guests includes Josh Gilbert, eToro Lead Analyst, APAC & Middle East, Sree Kochugovindan, Aberdeen Investments Senior Research Economist, Aziz Aluthman Fakhroo, Ooredoo Group CEO and Cheryl Buss, Absa International Chief Executive.
