AI’s Next Race: Cost, Control, and Compute
The AI race is shifting from who has the biggest model to who can run, control and deploy AI most effectively.
Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas joins to discuss the company’s new orchestrator model, why he’s building on open-source Chinese AI, and his argument that “token value per watt” may decide the next phase of competition.
Then, Benchmark general partner Peter Fenton and Ollama CEO Jeff Morgan discuss the rise of open models, why enterprises are increasingly running models they can download and control, and what Ollama’s growth says about where the AI ecosystem is heading.
Together, the conversations get at one big question: in AI’s next race, will the winners be defined less by model access and more by cost, control and compute?

How Warsh’s Task Forces Will Reshape The Federal Reserve
Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh is floating major revisions to the central bank’s approach to assets, productivity, data, inflation and public communications. To achieve this, Warsh has created 5 “task forces” while soliciting interest from individuals outside of the Fed. This presents an opportunity for a small unelected group to influence the broader U.S. economy and value of U.S. dollars circulating globally. CNBC’s Matt Peterson reports.

The main thing about Apple is its great marketing and deals with celebrities that make their fans to buy a iPhone some go the extra mile by saying "if you have an android you are poor" and so people buy the iPhone even Samsung home country can't stop this mindset since most Korean celebrities are using iPhone so their fans are buying too and to bully people with the blue vs green text message
@Umuliuz
January 28, 2024 at 8:59 am
It has happened before (fingerprint sensors come to mind) that Samsung rushes out new tech, then Apple does it right a little later in the year. I remains to be seen if this also will hold true for AI-stuff, or if Samsung is truly ahead this time.

Apple's after sales service is unbeatable. What samsung does when you visit their service center is to find something to reject warranty. At the same time apple employees immediately apologize that their product became defective and service the product. Is top notch customer care which other companies should learn from.

Apple needs to play a bigger role in guiding and helping us in our daily lives. For instance the AI should hear me present at work and then help me improve it by including atomic but subtle habits….or tell me that I was a bit too rude or dramatic to my kids and then help me to meditate and reflect so that I can become a better parent…or if I’m in the doctors room and the AI warns me that the medication that the Doctor is recommending had an adverse side effect before and gives me some alternatives etc. If Apple can develop advanced AI that is subtle but highly intuitive based on shitloads of data prompting me to do things to improve my life it will be a real game changer.

It’s because of the it’s heavily moderated AppStore. Most if not all apps are optimized for iPhones compared to its android app counterparts. Then the software even though very basic compared to android. Hell I was on xs max and it ran great for 5+ year and just upgraded this year to 15 pro max
