I love watching the beautiful Stephanie Rhule.

Never touch a performer. I expect anyone but Lizzo's team would have been "spoken to" about doing something like that or thrown out.

Trump can’t find quality lawyers. That Lauro guy seems to be a poor example of those.

We need cameras in those courtrooms. The world needs to watch how a demented man is taken down by the law.

Why we are having a discussion about watching Donald J Trump trial on tv when tax payers are paying for it. We the people demand to see the truth for ourselves with no filters 😮

I don't follow Lizzo or I have never heard her music, but Stephanie, I founded your reporting on the subject VERY one-sided. You could have done a lot BETTER than that! c.peter morgan.

I dunno. I'm no Lizzo fangirl, but on the surface it feels like the fired mean-girls enabling each other to go after her as payback. Beyonce? It's business — not much will get in the way of that. Same thing happened to Al Franken and I will never-ever forgive Meghan McCain for that. If this is real…… well, it's a crying shame.

The trial should be recorded, then broadcast … only … on PBS every night. We need one message…the truth.

Y E S , YES, Yes… P L E A S E ! This would be way better than "THE APPRENTICE"!! Coverage of the "TRUMPS TRIALS" would end differently however, instead of "your fired" it would be 'YOUR GULTY"

Yes cameras in the court room.

Cameras are already in this court room. The video feed is watched in the overflow room. The Constitution requires trials to be public. Let the American people to also see the video.

Trump indicted for trying to steal the election….

I’ve heard a lot of smart commentary about this. Commentary about the court process, implications for the 2024 election, impact to the Republican party, consequences for unindicted persons, and even reflections from people on the scene during the “riot,” as Garland termed it.

I’ve heard very little from regular Black folk (like me), and then only in sound bites.

    Let’s begin.

None of these court cases matter if they don’t change how people think about citizenship.

And, my feeling of relief about the indictment is dissolved by the apparent fact that the indictment(s) aren’t causing people to change.

Pill after pill, and the headache won’t go away. What does that tell you about your health?

So, I don’t feel becalmed or satisfied that DOJ has brought the J6 case. I don’t feel like the country has made a significant stride forward. I think we’re witnessing a terribly interesting legal drama, but we’re not changed by it.

Trump still leads in polling, and if reports are to be given credibility, he’s gained ground.
    Republicans overwhelmingly support him.
Trump is within a ‘Cornell West breath’ of beating Biden, according to polling.

In what universe could all of the past acts and indictments of a man fail to build prophylaxis against his becoming president?

That is at the root of my feelings about this indictment.

The impeachments, Jan 6 Commission, hitherto J6 convictions, the constant and credible and detailed reportage about what happened have all failed to change how half of America thinks about the viability of this man and his ideas for the presidency.

How prescient a statement: I could shoot someone and still win. Effectively, he did shoot someone, and demonstrably he could win.

And do you know what feels even worse about his Teflon-cy?

Right wingers support him because their disdain (latent or overt) for Black and Brown is stronger than their respect for democracy. There are many reasons to reside on the Right wing, from economic to political policy and beyond. But the core connective tissue is the culture divide. And that is, and always has been based on the color line.

I’ve given service to this country and to see us more comfortable as laughing stock rather than to examine our racist nature is disheartening.

It’s bad enough to accurately state that he could win. What we’re not prepared for is if he does win. Even worse, the people that support Trump in some future contest will bring forth a clever version of Trump.

    What to do?

I’m going to wait until Biden is asked, “Will you keep Garland in his job?” Biden can’t answer the question directly, but if I can discern that he plans to stick with Garland, I will support and donate to any Democrat who says that they will put in place a less pusillanimous DOJ head. Garland has got to go.

I’ll watch the trials. This is historic.

I expect there will be some nutcase who will act out. If I see something I will say something. I won’t be surprised if there are violent protests by Trump supporters.

I will not be surprised or upset if Trump’s dingbat documents judge does something outrageous in his favor. I won’t even be surprised if he’s acquitted on any or all of the cases.

I will be shocked if he serves one day in jail. For anything. Ever.

Under no circumstance will I celebrate the so-called triumph of the justice system or of democracy. Democracy is getting the poop kicked out of it, and this indictment should have happened much sooner.

In 15 months, we’ll all still be on the same planet, but we may be in a different world. The indictments are compelling but keep your eye on the election.

am I missing something here? don't those workers work for Lizzo? If they don't want to do what their boss asks them to do, then they can't work anywhere for anyone but themselves.

  19. @dabarworshipcenter

    December 15, 2023 at 5:32 am

This is not shocking… This is how some of them are behind the scene… Now even with 10-16 hour days, you are to treat ppl with respect.

    December 15, 2023 at 5:32 am

We we all saw what happened on J/6 but some people still call it a tourist visit. I believe it would the same with people watching the trial live.

  21. @NiteMoves2010

    December 15, 2023 at 5:32 am

Live TV should not be an issue. The witnesses would need to be quarantined so evidence does not influence their own answers. This is normal. Witnesses wait in the hall or an annex. A closed, but televised court room would insure proper conduct, be secure and orderly!

Trump’s DOJ subpoenas NYT journalists over Air Force One story

Published

on

By

The Trump administration issued subpoenas on Friday to several journalists for The New York Times, after the paper reported on security concerns involving President Trump’s new Qatari-donated Air Force One. In some cases, the subpoenas were delivered by federal agents who showed up at reporters’ homes. The subpoenas seek to force the reporters to testify before a federal grand jury in Manhattan on Wednesday, and are an extraordinary escalation in President Trump’s efforts to threaten and intimidate independent news organizations. NYT Investigative reporter Michael Schmidt joins Morning Joe with more on this developing story.
