   Shocking Lack of knowledge & positions: 1. $money… The limited space & expensive is why all athletes/sports participants can't have private changerooms, shower stalls, etc. Current school building is minimizing costs by essentials, like lockers for books & possessions… Where are your brains. There are mixed sexes in early sports like soccer, basketball, running, etc. Males w/ their testosterone & male genitals do not belong in girls' bathrooms, showers, dressing/changing rooms… or competing w/ strength/endurance sports… Anyone can say, "I identify as a girl, so I'm competing", but that doesn't make them a girl or a woman. I can feel for them: I often was mistaken for a male, guards were called when they saw my ladies' loafers & moccasins under the stalls of Women's bathrooms, etc., when I use female bathrooms.
   – HASN"T THERE BEEN ENOUGH ASSAULTS TO MAKE IT APPARENT THE IMMEDIATE SOLUTION IS NOT TO ALLOW MALES TO USE FEMALE FACILITIES. DITTO… TO BE ALLOWED TO COMPETE IN GIRLS SPORTS OR EVEN ADUJLT WOMEN'S SPORTS.
   What are your plans when a "Man/Woman" decides later, he's still male? …. Take away his trophies? Cure his victims–the girls and women who were assaulted when a guy is hanging around or even legitimately using the ladies bathrooms; baby feeding area–just out of curiosity… spraying his urine all over the toilet seats, because there are no male urinals in ladies restrooms. We had enough of men spraying the seats when executive office suites shared the single bathroom.
   -With Title IX, girls at least had some access to sports; the female high school coaches no longer get a free ride. Even such as archery, a male w/ greater arm strength shouldn't blatantly be allowed to compete w/Girls or Women by just saying, "I identify as a woman… ergo let me compete against lesser strength girls and women… running/jumping… etc., w/ greater bulk, stamina, lung space, longer strides…

   No it isn't. Yes, post-puberty, they do. Go to any local track meet, or just look up the results for any sport where men and women compete according to the same rules. The males outperform the females by significant margins, so significant that most world class women's athletics is performed at about the same level as top high school boys teams. Anyone who has trouble answering this question can't lay claim to being an expert on the subject, because this is BASIC.

   When I was in elementary school I wanted to be a cowboy. I watched cowboy movies on TV, I wore cowboy boots, cowboy shirts, and a cowboy neckerchief around my neck when I went to school. My identity was that of a cowboy. I'd come home after school, turn on a cowboy movie on the TV, take a kitchen chair, tie on a rope for the reigns, turn the chair backwards and ride my "horse" while I watched TV. Was I a cowboy? No, I was not. And today . . . . I am still not a cowboy.

   As a sports writer for more than three decades, biological boys have an advantage over biological girls in most cases. That's not to say that a girls basketball player can't be a better shooter or have a better skill set, or that some girls aren't more physical than some boys (having seen some action under the basket at a WNBA game, I can attest that there is a physicality that I'm not eager to join, but I'm not 6-4, either, and a 6-4 man in the NBA is not going to be the disadvantage I would be). In California, female high school athletes have had the option of competing in boys' sports if they desired, particularly if the sport was not offered for girls (football, for example). I'm not sure that works in reverse, so a boy can't play on a girls field hockey team. But when it comes to sports in which both sports are offered — and I think swimming and track are the best examples — a boy who identifies as a girl will provide better results than a biological girl all things being equal. When you hear about a 6-foot boy competing against high school girls and he is 7 seconds better than everyone else, it becomes pretty clear that there's a difference. When a biological man breaks NCAA swimming records in women's events, it makes clear the biological differences. It destroys the integrity of the records and results and damages the integrity of the game; it's akin to Barry Bonds using steroids to break Hank Aaron's home run record. Bonds had a physical advantage that Aaron (and many of Bonds' contemporaries) didn't have. It's not fair, and that's why steroids are illegal and you don't get to play the game while you're on steroids. Here's the thing that Stephanie Ruhle doesn't seem to get (as much as I like her), and it's that sports is very important to those who play "at a competitive level" in high school (which is where most of my expertise is at), and a competitive biological boy is going to impact the integrity of the games/records. This is not about allowing the trans boy to participate if their inclusion on the team prevents a biological girl from making the team. One more thing, and this seems to get lost — and I'm not an expert on trans life so maybe I'm wrong — but choosing to publicly change your identity is a major stress event in one's young and immature life that allowing them to participate on the girls team does nothing but invite additional stress, bullying, and worse from a community that sees their inclusion as something that's not for the greater good of all. So what's the answer? At the high school level, allow trans athletes to compete at the freshman and junior varsity levels, but not the varsity level. This solves the issue of participation and competing, and though there isn't the opportunity to compete with and against girls of their own age, they would have the option of competing with and against the boys their own age. Is it fair to them? Is high school fair to every kid? Are there kids that don't make the basketball team because they're 5-4 or because they're in a wheelchair? Strictly from a mental health standpoint, there's a reasonable excuse to exclude a biological teen boy from competing against a biological teen girl and the criticism it would invite from the community.

    No child or kid should be encouraged or allowed to permanently change themselves in an irreversible manner period. We have to be 18 to get tattoos. Who doesn’t regret decisions they made as a child? I regret stuff I did in my 20s! I’m not against it. I just feel it’s irresponsible for any adult to condone a change of such a permanent manner to a child. There are lots of cases of children who transitioned that later very much regretted it. I’m sorry not being hateful being honest

    Kids cannot be trans, they cannot transition if they still don't have their sexuality defined, and the only way to know their sexuality is to go through the biological development process that defines it.     Honest question. Not being sarcastic or attempting to create drama. Instead of dividing sports by gender, why not divide it by physical abilities. Boxing is divided by weight, for example. If we take away the gender issue and focus on the ability issue, wouldn't that level the playing field so to speak? How would it be different than a woman wanting to be a firefighter? Not based on gender, but ability. What about a man wanting to be a "house wife?" I know the term is outdated. Is he not qualified because he is a male? Sports, jobs, life paths, maybe we start going based on ability and not gender, race, age, etc.?
