‘ERODING our democracy’: Morning Joe reacts to SHOCKING NYT Editorial on Trump’s election meddling
The New York Times editorial board is out with a new series tracking 12 categories of democratic erosion in the United States, highlighting the “worrisome steps” it says President Trump has taken toward undermining American democracy. Measuring on a scale from zero to 10 — with zero representing a strong, though imperfect, democracy and 10 representing a true autocracy — the board has moved one category, “manipulating the law to stay in power,” up to Level 3. The Morning Joe panel breaks down the ominous warnings from the piece as the country heads toward the November midterms and the 2028 election.

I love it how they walk around and play the blame game but at the end of the day this failure falls 100% on this Administration because of the way it was executed… so you people do what you do best, make pathetic excuses

The woman in the glasses may also wish to mention Joe Biden was a Senator at the start of this campaign for seven years and vice president eight years if she's looking for accountability. But this is MSNBC. Only Republicans need to be held accountable. Everyone involved needs to be held accountable regardless of party affiliation. The mission also kept Afghanistan from becoming the terrorist safe haven it was and we are seeing happen again. But this is MSNBC.

Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children. This is not a way of life at all in any true sense. Under the clouds of war, it is humanity hanging on a cross of iron.

What were we doing? Focusing on calling Bush and Trump and their voters "Hitler" and "Nazi's". Impeachment hearings were given priority over what was going on in the Wuhan biolab. The intel agencies were to busy looking for "white rage" and teaching "critical race theory" and how to stop "climate change" and getting everyone into an electric vehicle and not doing what they are supposed to do, watch China, Russia and the Islamic terrorist groups.

What were we doing? Trying with the best of intentions to get these people beyond tribalism, and on the road towards the modern world. We also were fighting a constant rearguard action against the incompetence and corruption which was sapping their resources – and leading them back to failure and regression. Ultimately, we could not stay forever….

🤷♂️🤦♂️🤨 What were WE doing in Afghanistan the last 20 years???? 🤨🤷♂️🤦♂️
*I have to be FAIR & 👉👉👉OBJECTIVE👈👈👈 with this question. Frankly and honestly, Donald Trump and Joe Biden are totally right in there decision with the US withdrawing from the country. The US has invested a LOT in that country to have a Afghan president leave that country like leaving to a Strippers club. Now the world is crying and criticizing Afghanistan abuse and scream for law and order when those same countries are unwilling to invest what the US has invested.
My only criticism, is the way Joe Biden has left the country which specifically has created chaos but we can give Biden the excuse in correcting that mistake based on his reasoning to leaving….

The expectation that Afghans will shed each others blood for the benefit of a foreign country is simply arrogant and stupid. One does not have to agree or understand their way of life, however to expect them keep fighting for a cause that is not theirs simply because they were different uniforms is pretty naive and stupid

The US achieved something. Roads were built and some women were better educated.
But the most important is reformulating a Taliban that, when victorious, still allows human passage out of the country; that is, a hostage situation is not developing.
@ashokmehta15
December 13, 2023 at 9:36 am
We can all blame the past administrations for the failure in Afghanistan. But the fact remains – the Afghan army did not put up a fight! They had all the equipment; they were highly trained by the allies; they had numbers (300,000). And yet when the time to fight came, they ran off. Why? Because they did not love their country; they did not believe in freedom and were not passionate enough to put their lives on line!
