    On education, don’t US schools have parent teacher nights where parents meet one-on-one with their child’s teacher? That’s common in some countries. Could be really helpful for all.

    I’m old, but I spent most of my career as a school counsellor. During my career I heard over and over that it is “my child” as if the child is a possession; that is one difficult hurdle because the child is an individual and deserves some level of privacy. Counsellors who cannot offer students a measure of confidentiality are absolutely useless and they may as well lock their doors and go home to twiddle their thumbs. A child or teen is struggling with their own identity (and that struggle can take many forms) and cannot communicate that personal battle with parents is telling the world a whole lot about the nature of the family dynamic. These are the parents who will demand to know all. They are ignorant of who their children are and what are their struggles and they want only to model them like cheap clay ornaments. The parents who don’t demand to know all are already aware of their children’s identity struggles because they can “talk” to their children and will support them through all their life journeys. These parents will have conversations with counsellors and teachers to plan supports, not to ferret out dirty little details.

    Imagine being JoeBiden.
    Your son makes millions of dollars from foreign entities but does not pay taxes because that would mean disclosing that he is engaged in foreign lobbying. With the millions of dollars and no serious job, he becomes a drug addict and illegally obtains a gun. All he tells them is that he is the son of the US Vice President, and he claims that part of the money will go to the "Big Guy." He promises them access to his dad and top US officials. They hire him without any qualifications and pay him millions of dollars.
    Eventually, the information comes out, and the Justice Department has to investigate. The investigation drags on for five years, and eventually, they strike a deal with him to plead guilty to two misdemeanors of tax evasion so that the government would not prosecute him for illegally possessing a gun as a drug addict, a serious crime that has sent tens of thousands of Americans to prison for years. Imagine being the same father who, as a senator, drafted a draconian anti-drug law that sent tens of thousands of black people and others to prison, confiscated all their belongings, and gave a big speech boasting that the drug addicts should all be taken off the streets. Now that your son is one of them, when you're asked about his case, you say you're proud of him and he has done nothing wrong.
    Imagine journalists and commentators like Joe Scarborough justifying it on television, singing your praises when their own child would have been in prison long ago for the same crimes. Imagine the people who believed in the rule of law watching the two-tiered justice system so brazenly displayed.
    America is in crisis.

    This is one terrible fact what is happening with public organizations in US, like FBI, CIA, GOJ's, IRS, communications systems like CNN, MSNBC, CBS and others. Both are protecting the criminality, the corruption, the illegals deal, laundering money and others criminals’ activities, how what´s happening with Joe Biden and your criminal's activities.     The Navy knew this on Sunday which means biden also knew. Yet he chose to use this story all week to cover up the hunter plea deal and take away from the whistleblowers' testimony. Biden is a sorry excuse for a human being.

    I am from rural western Pennsylvania & as the oldest of 8 children in my family, I was the only 1 to attend 12 years of Catholic school where I got an outstanding education (if I ignore the god nonsense I was indoctrinated with). My siblings were educated in the public school system and I fear that if they were being schooled today they would have never learned the biology of evolution or the facts of slavery. Even my education regarding slavery and its aftermath and resulting present day reality, was woefully lacking even almost 60 years later.

    I returned to college somewhere in the '90s to pursue a BS in Education/English because I had a BA in English already. Several things caused me to abandon that effort and return to teaching ESL in Asia and the Middle East. In the years following that decision I came to the realization that I should have pursued a BS and taught History, because I am smart enough, well traveled enough, and well read enough that I could make History interesting, while there is no possible way to make the study of grammar interesting.

    In today's environment I would either get shot or get fired for teaching accurate history. I guess I'll just enjoy the rest of my life in blissful retirement in The Philippines. That reminds me though…what do right wingers think of renaming (properly) "The Philippine Insurrection" the "Philippine American War" where Filipinos fought for their independence from America in 1898 after Spain "gave" The country to America after the Spanish American War?
