I watched an episode this morning when the question of if the Republican party could go back to being what it was had a chance. To ask the question, in my opinion, shows Republicans have learned nothing much from trump.

I only go back to Reagan with any political awareness, but every Republican politician from Reagan onwards is responsible for trump. You all need to take responsibility and see that the Republican platforms are not fair to the 95% of the American public. Your greed and science denials are killing us.

If you go back to what you were, you end up with trump again.

And here is President Biden speaking extemporaneously~no notes no speech no teleprompter~speaking off the top of head with no issues, communicating clearly and articulately in everyday language, briefly giving his impressions of the meeting in general and summing up what he expects to happen going forward with President XI, and himself and our relationship with China. Consensus over the fentanyl issue is huge, make no mistake.

So, another key moment for our President, representing us in the world and on the world stage, making things better for everyone, and working at keeping us safer.

Here's the deal. The Republicans in the House or anywhere else don't REALLY want to impeach Joe Biden. Firstly, they know he's never done anything impeachable, not even remotely, and If truth be told they are glad he's the one in the White House. It reminds me of the recorded mic drop conversation on the evening of January 6th after the Capitol had been cleared. It was a conversation between Steve Scalise and Lindsey Graham, where Scalise says, well at least it's Biden, he will make things calm now, to which Graham replies, absolutely right, then adds, rhetorically, 'I mean, how long can you stay mad at Joe Biden??'

Of course there are one or two sore real magats the so-called freedom caucus but they are always performing for an audience of one, their dear fuhrer. And they are Hillary's basket of despicables deplorables and people who are not there to be serious legislators or who are there because they care about the American people.

You take what you can get, and you build on it. It was remarkable what Biden got; it all makes the world safer. Knowing they can each pick up the phone and talk makes the world safer. It is two adults talking, unlike Trump, who just wants people to see him as a thug.

I believe that Xi's willingness to travel to the US to meet with Biden is a bit of confirmation of the rumors of Putin's bad health. A dead ally (while Russia goes thru power vacuum scuffles) is not of much use to China.

For Americans who think that China will ultimately stop exporting fentanyl to the US and Europe, consider the two Opium wars of the 1800’s waged by Western powers over China. They have learned their lesson well. You reap what you sow.

Wait, you mean high level communications with adversaries are a completely normal, lawful way to prevent a military confrontation that’s based on misunderstanding/ bad info? That means Milley ISN’T a “traitor”! Who’d a thunk? 🤦‍♀️

  43. @tahiyamarome

The internet runs on private infrastructure. It is not public airwaves nor has the public paid for installation of internet hardware. Therefore there is no "right" to access the internet. I don't understand why any criminal defendant should have access to the internet. It's not a free speech issue. Before the internet no defendant could print whatever they wanted in a newspaper. How is this any different?

  44. @Doug-mu2ev

    December 14, 2023 at 8:20 am

The main difference between Floyd & Trump is that the former isn't a candidate for political office, so his words, albeit to a much smaller potential audience, would not be considered core political speech and protected by the First Amendment. Intimidation & threats by either should violate the bond release anyway…
