Sen. Murphy: Proposed Relief Bill ‘Could Get Us Through What Could Be A Very Hard And Deadly Winter’
Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) joins Andrea Mitchell to discuss the proposal of a $908 billion COVID relief bill by a bipartisan group of senators as 14 million Americans could lose unemployment aid by the end of December. Sen. Murphy says, “This amount of money could get us through what could be a very hard and deadly winter. This isn’t big enough to be able to get us to the point where the entire country is vaccinated. But it might be enough to make sure that millions of Americans don’t go hungry, don’t starve, don’t die out on the streets this winter when their jobless benefits expire and when protections for evictions expire.” Aired on 12/01/2020.

The New York Times editorial board is out with a new series tracking 12 categories of democratic erosion in the United States, highlighting the “worrisome steps” it says President Trump has taken toward undermining American democracy. Measuring on a scale from zero to 10 — with zero representing a strong, though imperfect, democracy and 10 representing a true autocracy — the board has moved one category, “manipulating the law to stay in power,” up to Level 3. The Morning Joe panel breaks down the ominous warnings from the piece as the country heads toward the November midterms and the 2028 election.

Parents are giving up green card fights to get their kids out of immigrant jail: Marshall Project
In 2013, Ana Kikabidze was selected to receive a U.S. green card. When unforeseen circumstances hit she had to move back to her home country. When she came back to the U.S. in May with her children, the family was arrested and sent to the controversial detention center in Dilley, Texas. Sorry…mr use to be republican but your party was always headed this direction because of people like cruz and meadows and barr and a trove of others. This was your party's fault. THEY did it. You did it. When you guys decided that you would just have "talking points" with no real policy, you fell of the table. When you guys decided that you'd go after "entitlements" (ie Social Security…the ONLY entitlement there is), you lost your marbles. When you guys decided that you'd stick with the ant-abortion platform without actually talking to YOUR FREAKING VOTERS, you lost the voters. It was always going this way. You lived in your bubble and didn't listen to ALL of the people that you represented…just listened to the people who agreed with you. NOT GOOD!

We so desperately need to get rid of the electoral college, make term limits for congress (20 years total) AND all judges/justices (20 years total), simplify our tax laws to have businesses & rich people pay their fair share, get universal health care, start enforcing the EPA's laws not just "fine" people/corporations, strive to have all people vote (if you want to have voter ID fine…but make it free and quick like when you sign up for membership at a big box store, you get an ID right then and there), strive to have an actual living wage, make Pueto Rico & Washington DC states so they can operate properly and cost less to operate, make an amendment that clarifies who is the check on the Supreme Court (for our "checks & balances") & make ethic laws for them, allow PEOPLE to recall or vote out a congress person not wait on the house or senate to kick them out when they're obviously breaking the law or have ethics issues, and on and on.

Okay, Pence…if our country is MORE important than one man, would you pardon him if you won? Or would you let the criminal process play out like it is suppose to and NOT step in and prove that there are people who are above the law? Because if you pardon him, you're saying that he is, in fact, above the law and we all know that he will continue to break the law. He got impeached TWICE because some republican senators said that "oh he's learned his lesson". Sure…he learned that he could do anything and you all would let it slide because he had an "r" behind his name. That's it.

Here's the problem: IF he ends up being president again, the whole world will NEVER take this country seriously again. They'll never trust us again. They'll say that we are NOT a real democracy (and we're not because of the electoral college). They'll say that we should NEVER tell other country's what to do or say that "democracy" is the way to go. They'll call us backwards. They'll call us criminals. They'll call us liars and untrustworthy. AND…they will be right. He showed that America cannot be trusted to uphold our own agreements with other nations when he tore up the Iran deal that President Obama and THIS COUNTRY had made with Iran. Why would any country ever trust us again after that?

It's in Trump's upbringing. Trump's father Fred was arrested in New York City in 1927, when a group of Klansmen got into a brawl with police officers during a Memorial Day parade in Queens. There is a document trail, and the names, dates, and addresses match up. The New York Times published a story about the riot and the seven men who were arrested; Fred Trump is mentioned by name. His address is given as 175-24 Devonshire Road, Jamaica, New York City, and the federal census of 1930 shows that Fred Trump resided there.

We came very close to losing our Democracy to an aurhoritarian Cult. Can we imagine what our lives be like under the authoritarian's rules? Well, we don't need to imagine, we know what it looks like just look at North Korea, Iran, Venezuela, Cuba, China, Russia, etc. We took our freedom for granted, but other people have to make the ultimate sacrifices to fight for their freedom as we are witnessing the Ukrainian people are doing exactly just that. We are lucky that we have been enjoying our freedom since our nation declared "Independence" from UK on July 4, 1776. So now, what can we do or need to do to preserve our Democracy and our Freedom? It is very reasonable to say that "Democracy Is Built On The Foundation Of Education." In other words, our society needs to be more educated in order to make our Democracy stronger. Thus, we must educate our children the values of Freedom and Democracy at young age; perhaps, from age 8 to 18 so every election cycle the parents need to give their children a civic lesson about Freedom and Democracy. If each state can pass a law to require elementary schools, midle schools, and high schools to include a compulsory civic course or class of "Democracy and Freedom" in their curriculum for graduation, this way we can be sure our Democracy is properly taught in schools.
