How China Is Threatening U.S. GPS Dominance

Published

on

For decades, the United States has been a leader in satellite navigation technology. The U.S. Global Positioning System, or GPS as most of us know it, was originally designed as a military tool, but has also become indispensable in the lives of civilians, with over 6 billion users around the world. But the U.S. is not the only country with its own global navigation satellite system. Russia has GLONASS and the European Union has Galileo. In 2020, China launched the last satellite needed to complete its own global system called Beidou, which translates to “Big Dipper” in English. Since then, the influence of Beidou has grown, with an estimated 1.1 billion people now using the system. Experts say Beidou underpins not only China’s military ambitions, but is also spurring economic growth in the country and increasing its diplomatic leverage.

I dont think a regional power such as the U.S have the capability to compete with the most powerful country on this planet, U.S is definitely lacking a lot of qualities to do so.

The colonialists from Britain, Holland, Spain, Portugal, Belgium, France, etc., all had committed genocides in Indonesia, USA, Canada and South America, Australia, New Zealand, Africa and the Middleast. All these countries have the rights to question American and UK colonial supremacy.

  18. @arthurniblock4125

    December 17, 2023 at 3:14 am

The progress of China in "all" sectors of technology, will "not" be stopped by anyone. They are simply too capable and ambitious. The goal should "not "be to slow down China,s progress, it should be to "invest in and concentrate on" your own progress, it,s called fair competition. So the US should stop moaning and groaning, roll up their sleeves, and get back to work.

When you speak about China, you aften describe her as 'Communist China', with hatred.
When someone hates others, he/she would be mislead and thus makes mistakes. 🎉🎉🎉

  27. @ATT428

Lies should be stopped. It is the USA who are threatening China ! China has the right to develop itself !

  28. @answerhsiao0610

    December 17, 2023 at 3:14 am

The United States always plays up the China threat theory, but in fact China is a peace-loving country, and the Beidou system will only bring convenience to more people, not a threat.

  29. @quyenluong3705

    December 17, 2023 at 3:14 am

So Chinese system has tracking and is security problems but the western systems don’t ? How much more bias do you want ?
How can the US stay ahead when it’s already falling behind ?

if you know history of the world you can understand it's possible in china.

  32. @newaulk

    December 17, 2023 at 3:14 am

Of course a US media outlet will not talk about the US's bullying and bad actions. China started to work on their own navigation system after the Yinhe incident in 1993. The producer and the editor of course omitted that and just talked about the missiles over the Taiwan straight.

    December 17, 2023 at 3:14 am

    Compare BDS vs GPS.
    BDS is far advanced
    Privacy vs safety
If safety is more important than privacy. I really don't care about privacy, safety is more important for me. I don't mind who know where am I. If you are a robber you would mind 😂. Like no one dare to steal Tesla EV the same reason.

Why There’s An ‘Extremely Fierce’ Battle For TSMC’s Limited Chip Manufacturing Capacity

Published

on

By

Unstoppable demand for AI is leading to a capacity crunch on factory lines at the world’s leading chip manufacturer, Taiwan Semiconductor. And it could put a chokehold on AI’s ability to scale. Analysts tell CNBC that Nvidia, Apple, Broadcom, AMD and others are locked in an “extremely fierce” competition to get their GPUs, CPUs and custom AI chips made at TSMC. Capacity can’t come online fast enough, despite TSMC’s rush to build new fabs in Taiwan, Japan and Arizona, where has expanded investment to $265 billion. The strain has made one man at TSMC “the most popular person on the planet,” as chip start-ups and big name CEOs visit Taiwan to ask him for wafer allocation. It’s also created a rich opportunity for Intel, as customers look to the long-struggling foundry arm of the U.S. chip manufacturer for a second source.
