Most news in less than a decade show how prone to fascism & inequality, beyond the mere words, humanity is. Simply because we've never cared to find out more about what we follow or reject. Regrets wouldn't fit the image society has of us, so we tacitly cover that up too, making us a proud social individual who agrees to live just like everybody we're pals with.

Thanks, Jonathan-for-Lawrence. This immensely convoluted, brutally murderous, strife-laden situation in the Middle East today brings to mind one of my favorite SFF authors. For all the chuckles, giggles, and outright guffaws they always provoked, Terry Pratchett’s Disk-World Cycle is intensely critical of human frailties, foibles, failures, and entrenched cultural falsehoods. Were he still among us, his take on this violent crap would mate Color of Magic with Thud, Going Postal, Guards, Mort, Moving Pictures, and Going Postal, etc. Plus some Patrician, Granny Weatherwax, Hogfather, Klatch, assorted Drunken Dwarfs, Dragons and Trolls strewn in, and a Golem or two!

(“Dwarves?” “Dwarfs!” <KKKlash of Battle> — “Who won?” “Who won?”)

Donald Trump is the most dangerous man to America and its democracy right from the inception of America. Yet America goes and deals with terrorist camps in Syria.
President Biden (an excellent President) where are you? Your nation needs you to deal with Trump right now, leave Syria for next month or so. I appreciate you not getting dragged into Trump's circus, but he is your greatest enemy ever. Or to put it as my family does, 'deal with the crocodile closest to your boat'.

The trolls are the first ones to add idiotic and provocative comments it seems. My concern is the involvement of the west in this 10,000 year old religious feud. We have enough problems on our own side of the world, and we don't need to be wading in. Hamas' attack was atrocious. The Israeli response is equally atrocious. Let them destroy themselves, and clean up their own mess. Civilians will suffer, but that seems to be the goal on both sides.
