The ‘Socialist’ Bank Thriving In Trump Country
Progressive political candidates have clamored to launch public banks in the lead-up to the 2026 midterm elections. However, there is just one active example in the United States: the Bank of North Dakota. Chartered in 1919, this bank uses tax revenue from the state to fund and execute strategic economic development priorities for North Dakota. The bank has assisted in sales of fossil fuel assets, a presidential library, and general lending to citizens and businesses in need. CNBC’s Garrett Downs reports on this “socialist experiment” unfolding deep in Trump country.

While praising Chinas rails, you forgot to mention that it is deeply in debt and it could quite possibly bankrupt their entire country in the next decade.

You can stay and stick in the car as much as you want and take resistance from auto industry and aviation industry like now but eventually the economy will lose against the international competition.
Which one would you choose?
Success of US empire or fall of the US empire?

Everyone thinks a 200mph train can just stop at every suburb and maintain that average speed. If you have ever actually used one of these trains in China, you will note it’s usually 30+ minutes on multiple subway lines to get to the high speed station outside the city center. They also have a homogeneous demographic, and do not have to be as concerned with a certain part of the population trashing the trains and stealing tickets

China spent the last twenty years spending trillions on public transportation and roads. America spent the last twenty years at war, spending trillions of dollars they don't have on the military. Guess who is light years ahead of the other? If I were American I would lose sleep over this. America, China is coming for you, and when they do you'll be finished. Get your house in order , America, before it all comes crashing done. Canada and all it's fresh water will not bail you out. You've made your bed and you'll have to sleep in it. Oh Canada

I am a bit confused. Is the video suggesting that there is no lobbying for the electric energy sector? It's intriguing, especially considering that China dominates the production of practically all renewable energy products and technologies. From my understanding, the lobbying for China's green energy appears to be stronger compared to the American oil lobbyists. When was the last time we heard anything about possible advancements in oil or nuclear energy?

Americans have a penchant for driving cars for long hours and they neglect the idea of taking high speed rail.That's why they lack years behind China in building high speed rail projects.
@Duper1254

A clear reason why free range doesn't work so well as a model. Too much bureaucracy. Everyone wants a piece of an idea coz they have a "right" hence reducing the power/ability of the government to enact a project without the private sector beating them to market. Crutial sectors should be left for the government.

What I think the problem is with self-driving cars is, the need to interact with surrounding cars. All cars need to be able to talk to each other for this to work properly. What they need to do is make a mock-city full of self-driving cars to understand those individual dangers without affecting the movement of non-self-driving cars. With the addition of human-driven cars added gradually. A lot of self-driving technology is AI based and AI works best when learning slowly. I think it was a mistake to just throw a learning machine into the real world and expect it to understand how chaotic human drivers are without allowing the AI to learn first.

It's insane what years of corruption at the highest level can do to a country. The petrol car lobby literally ripped out rails and people's transportation future, and the US is now paying the price. You can't commute a few million people daily in and out of a city centre by car it's not possible.
High speed rail is a loss making exercise, France 's TGV is a marvel and every ticket is subsides at 50%. You have to look at the economic benefits that trickle down from this investment, it's not socialism. Space race was first funded by the state before private companies could take over. Keep on adopting a short-term profit only view and forgetting your regalian obligations, keep on giving in to powerful lobbies that finance your elections and you're due to return your people to the stone age.

What people don’t realize just like during WWII is that critical infrastructure is a national security issue. We not only need it for building a strong economy but it’s crucial during a war. We’re sitting ducks right now. When the Russians invaded Ukraine most people escaped on their train system. It was fast and efficient. The problem with the U.S. is that it’s always been reactionary. It won’t do a damn thing until there is a disaster or war.
