Aaron Sorkin wasn’t planning to make another movie about Facebook — until he met a whistleblower whose story he felt compelled to tell. In an expansive conversation with Nicolle Wallace, the Oscar- and Emmy-winning writer and director discusses his new film, The Social Reckoning, and the extraordinary power Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook wield over nearly 3 billion people — and the costly decisions that have shaped the platform’s impact on our lives, our politics and our democracy.
A follow-up to 2010’s The Social Network, Sorkin’s new film examines Facebook in the age of Trump, telling the story of whistleblower Frances Haugen’s decision to expose internal documents detailing misinformation and potential harms, while exploring an older Zuckerberg confronting the consequences of the technology he created. Sorkin explains why he chose to release the film ahead of the midterm elections and why he believes there is still room for optimism — if we are willing to act.
Wallace and Sorkin explore Zuckerberg’s immense influence, the decisions surrounding Facebook on January 6, the people inside the company who knew what was happening and remained silent, and why Wallace sees Zuckerberg as “bubble wrapped from reality.” They discuss the complicated empathy the film invites audiences to feel for Zuckerberg — and how that empathy can coexist with accountability for decisions that affect billions. Sorkin also shares the story of Zuckerberg’s former consigliere and their falling out, his reaction to Jeremy Strong’s portrayal of Zuckerberg (whom Sorkin calls “the best American actor under 50 years old”), and Facebook’s efforts to obtain the film’s script before its release. He reveals how the filmmakers prepared for potential legal challenges, including the threat of a lawsuit.
The conversation also examines Trump’s relationship with Zuckerberg, the former president’s attacks on the media despite his apparent appetite for attention from credible news organizations, and the essential role investigative journalism plays in holding powerful people and institutions accountable. Wallace and Sorkin discuss why Congress and the law continue to lag behind rapidly advancing technology, the consequences of leaving that power unchecked, and why the stakes for democracy could hardly be higher.
And in a moment that connects Sorkin’s celebrated work across generations, the conversation turns to A Few Good Men, Hegseth’s “illegal order” and the enduring importance of questioning authority. Wallace, who was inspired by Allison Janney’s portrayal of White House Press Secretary C.J. Cregg on The West Wing to imagine a future for herself in the White House, joins Sorkin in reflecting on the responsibilities of the press, the dangers of unchecked power and the choices that define our political moment.

What's the reality about US cities today? For example, NYC, one truth inferno of riots, left protests, looting, and high number of crimes. There´s a lot of homeless, drug dealers, addict and others criminals. Robberies, criminals of different expertise, racism a lot, homophobic and anti- homophobic, anyway, all kind and diversity people hating each other, harming each other, one true evil place. People also forgive that the first year was Obama's economy the second year the Republicans put in a 2 trillion tax break and although most of it went to the ultra Rich still 15 to 20% when to the lower middle income people and it did bump up the economy. And use 3 and 4 we stopped all school loan payments, we handed out stimulus checks, we matched everyone out on unemployment that got laid off and then we added I think $300 per week on top of that and we made sure that it never ended. Then when Biden came in he gave everyone 3 to 400.00 per kid for 6 months. Unfortunately people forget that that was Biden I guess. During that time we had 20 million people out of work hundreds of thousands of businesses had shut down and yet everyone was paying down debt and Amazon and Walmart we're going crazy with breaking sales records. All these people were sitting at home out of work watching TV streaming on brand new televisions and playing video games on brand new Xboxes and binge watching their favorite shows. of course they look back and say those were the good old days. How many times in your life do you get to stay home for a year and not work and actually make more money than you ever have in your life before?

There needs to be a total gag order issued against Trump. It doesn't matter Trump the businessman or Trump the candidate, he just brazenly and deliberately attacks anyone who disagrees with him regardless of their status – ex lawyers, ex nominations during his time as president, current judicial members and their assistants and teams, military chiefs, key members of the FBI, key members of the opposition (notably Nancy Pelosi and the attempted murder of her husband) and he knows full too well, and clearly revels in the fact, that the slightest mention systematically leads to the harassment, intimidation, threatening (including death threats) and in some cases tentatives of physical violence. A normal criminal without any proof of attempts of intimidation etc., would be gagged, and the overwhelming weight of evidence now should lead to a total gag order on Trump regarding all his on-going indictments. And failure to respect said gag order must mean immediate incarceration as says the LAW OF THE LAND which he purposely and seditiously tried to overturn with pre Jan 6th, Jan 6th and post Jan 6th manipulations and manigans.

If in some wild scenario that the Orange Menace were to get elected again, if we have a large majority of Democrats in the House and Senate, they could oust him through the impeachment process and secure a conviction in the Senate. I sincerely hope he doesn't make it anywhere near the WH, but we could still have a change to send him on his way, hopefully back to a prison cell.
