‘A Cursed Era’: Anand Giridharadas on When Jordan Neely and Daniel Penny Met on a NYC Subway
In 2023, a former Marine strangled a homeless Michael Jackson impersonator to death on a New York City subway. The story became national news, as Americans chose sides, either demanding justice for another Black man’s death at the hands of a white man or defending the actions of a former soldier who said he believed he was protecting the car’s passengers. Anand Giridharadas chronicled this deadly chapter in American history and its aftermath in his latest book Man in the Mirror. He dissects the divisions that have been spreading in the country in this – as he calls it – age of estrangement. “In a case about dehumanization,” he says. “I wanted to humanize everybody. ”

The people have not got the slightest clue that America no longer belongs to them: It is now in the hands of Criminals dressed up as Democrat politicians. Once upon a time, criminals bribed Democrat politicians, but not anymore, now Democrat politicians bribe criminals and the criminals are the heads of the FBI, CIA, and Justice Department, and now The Fake News Media like MSNBC to name only a few, but there are many more: America is finished and the blame has to fall squarely on the heads of all those who voted for the Democrat Party. If the host wants to plug your book, fine, but can we agree to stop using the phrase "As I wrote in my book .."? OMG She just did it again while I'm typing this. "As I talk about in my book …" Definitely one book I won't be reading. Cannot stand Taylor Lorenz.

I'm so excited about all the young people getting into activism and politics. I'm grieved that they have to, but so happy that they're stepping up. I'm glad to hear that we are leaving America in good hands.

I'm in my 40's and I'm fed up too. All of the sick people have been empowered. Please young people stop them. I believe my generation was so messed up by the generation before us that we couldn't fight the same. The lack of the current technology forced us to be short sided. It's up to you youngsters.

Also, I was a well known boxer throughout the nineties in the w.b.o.
Neither body paid me my winnings. All I got was a cup , and a few belts. No money. Gayness. Drug use. Outspoken demeanor. Also. You all think I could be doing better with all the money Ive earned. But no. I didnt spend my entire teens , twenties and most of my thirties killing bad people. Without a price. So yeah. The American with the bright ideas is poor. Yah,baby mommas uave my money, but that for later; I don't know when. My bright ideas work now. The world is a burned out husk of what it was originally intended to become. I believe I could help.
