How Pop-Tarts Became A $1 Billion Breakfast Icon
For 60 years, Pop-Tarts has endured wars, natural disasters, health-conscious movements and recessions. Kellogg’s — which split into Kellanova, for snacks, and W.K. Kellogg’s, for its cereal business, in October — saw Pop-Tarts bring in $1 billion in sales in 2022. Kellanova’s top five snacking brands, Pringles, Cheez-It, Pop-Tarts, Eggo and Rice Krispies Treats, account for 50% of the company’s net sales. While competitors such as Quaker, Nabisco and General Mills have attempted to contend with the beloved toaster pastry, none of those efforts has lasted. On Dec. 28, 2023, for the first time, college football teams will compete in the Pop-Tarts Bowl, where the winning team will receive a giant, edible Pop-Tarts mascot.

I grew out of them. I used to eat the smore flavored ones with grilled cheese sandwiches. I'm tempted to grab a box of strawberries ones but it's too unhealthy I won't buy them

Pop tarts are good, but they don’t taste good enough for how bad for you they are. I’d rather have some frozen custard, a donut, brownie, or cake if I want an indulgent treat, which I have about once a week. This habit and many other is how I lost 65 pounds last year…

As an American I just wish these snacks had LESS sugar and salt—don’t use a chemical/diet substitute. JUST LESS of the bad stuff. There’s so much most would not miss it.

I was poor so we could not afford pop tarts. I was always envious of my classmates who had it for their snack. When I was older and could afford it, I hated it. Who the hell likes this junk!

I never had pop-tarts and never will because to me they look grossly sweet to me. Give me a Good Seed from Dave’s Killer bread smothered with plant based country crock butter…if I am super hungry I add mushed avocado on top, over easy egg, and sprinkle of black pepper. I am so glad I was introduced to healthy food at an early age. Thanks to my mom for feeding me bagel with strawberry cream cheese when I was younger instead of pop-tarts.

Sugar is more addicting then cocaine. Great product. Think about it everything is marketed to kids and it’s all sugar garbage. Cereals, snacks, this crap. All to get kids addicted. Then you literally go crazy without it. It’s not good it’s addicting. It’s literal trash. I’d never feed my kids any of this garbage
