The Wall Street Journal has a new two-part feature detailing what it describes as Europe’s ‘rupture’ with the United States following this week’s NATO Summit in Turkey. The Journal reports that President Trump’s tariff’s and threats to take Greenland has sparked a quote, “rebellion” amongst European leaders who are now drawing limits on so-called “flattery diplomacy.” The paper reports many leaders now view autonomy as the long-term goal,. Rather than a temporary measure, adding that even if leadership changes the era of relying on America so heavily had ended. The Trump administration issued subpoenas on Friday to several journalists for The New York Times, after the paper reported on security concerns involving President Trump’s new Qatari-donated Air Force One. In some cases, the subpoenas were delivered by federal agents who showed up at reporters’ homes. The subpoenas seek to force the reporters to testify before a federal grand jury in Manhattan on Wednesday, and are an extraordinary escalation in President Trump’s efforts to threaten and intimidate independent news organizations. NYT Investigative reporter Michael Schmidt joins Morning Joe with more on this developing story.

Glen Kirschner just stated that the DoJ is part of the Executive Branch, which is headed by the POTUS. So, I Googled the org chart and learned the folowing:
"The department (of justice) is headed by the U.S. attorney general, who reports directly to the president of the United States and is a member of the president's Cabinet. The current attorney general is Merrick Garland, who was sworn in on March 11, 2021."
But, the WH's official position is to not interfere with the DoJ's investigations into tRump's criminal activities, right?
IOW, Merrick Garland's 'boss' has neither instructed nor ordered him to indict tRump. So, the AG has no compelling reason to jeopardize himself nor his family by taking on the mafioso 'don'.
Now, I finally understand why AG Garland can continue to be such a coward, instead of performing his professional duties as AG.
Could the problem be that President Biden simply hasn't said, "Sic 'em, AG Garland!" 🤦♂
