Lyndsey Graham, Marco Rubio et al had Trump pegged just right. They could have been Old Testament prophets. They recognised him as a conman and described that he would be a disaster for the presidency. He was and he is – an unmitigated disaster. It is therefore inexplicable that these educated, streetwise, and previously principled politicians, have allowed themselves to be conned by a conman and seemed to have completely lost their way. There seems to be no level to which they would not descend to protect and defend a president who is publicly totally shameless, and seems intent on dragging the presidency down into the gutter with him, destroying years of honourable traditions and dignity. None of this makes any sense unless these men were already in the gutter and had conned the American people into believing otherwise.
