Why There’s An ‘Extremely Fierce’ Battle For TSMC’s Limited Chip Manufacturing Capacity
Unstoppable demand for AI is leading to a capacity crunch on factory lines at the world’s leading chip manufacturer, Taiwan Semiconductor. And it could put a chokehold on AI’s ability to scale. Analysts tell CNBC that Nvidia, Apple, Broadcom, AMD and others are locked in an “extremely fierce” competition to get their GPUs, CPUs and custom AI chips made at TSMC. Capacity can’t come online fast enough, despite TSMC’s rush to build new fabs in Taiwan, Japan and Arizona, where has expanded investment to $265 billion. The strain has made one man at TSMC “the most popular person on the planet,” as chip start-ups and big name CEOs visit Taiwan to ask him for wafer allocation. It’s also created a rich opportunity for Intel, as customers look to the long-struggling foundry arm of the U.S. chip manufacturer for a second source.

George Conway: ‘Lying, intimidating, bullying. That’s Trump at his worst, and that’s Trump always’

A lot of greed here. But not by the wealthy. Instead, the greed is by those who demand that they reap what they did not sow. Billionaires have it. You want it. There is no reason you deserve it or should have it. But you demand it anyway. And if you don’t get it, its ”not fair”. Forget the fact that “fair” would be a tax bill of the same amount, sent to every American. Reminds me of a bunch of whiny kindergartners. Except these kindergartners are willing to hide behind a government that is willing to use force on their behalf. It is a Faustian bargain, where politicians do the math and quickly see that appeasing the “many” by stealing from the wealthier “few” equals getting elected. But hey, if it helps you rationalize your own poor decisions, go for it, lol. Just have the honesty to admit that you want to steal from someone else.

I think the way to get that tax done is a 30% flat tax (60% seems excessive.) applied the moment the profit numbers drop. Eg. Company announced a 100 million profit for the quarter 30% tax applied means stockholders get 70 million profit. Then you bring the Company tax rate to zero. Index a living wage to the workers, include a retirement plan. What's that how do you pay for it. Simply the ecconomy pays for it. Workers with money spending. Spending causes profits. Profits increase revenues. Revenues keep works happy, through social programs like education and free health care. Happy educated workers cause productivity.
Terrible idea right.

I'll tell you how it would work. It would start out as a "billionaire's tax". It's sold that way to trade on the envy and resentment voters feel towards people who have more money than themselves; they're angry that they're not Geoff Bezos and didn't invent Amazon. "You have money – I don't – so I'm going to take it from you". But the amount of money raised is peanuts compared to something like income tax revenues. What Sanders really cares about here is setting a precedent. That tax rate wouldn't stay low for very long, and it wouldn't be something only billionaires paid for long either. You can expect it to be gradually extended. The rate would get increased year on year and the threshold would go down every year. Pretyt soon it would be a "millionaire's tax". Still not too bad, most people would just shrug and say "it's Okay, I'm not a millionaire". But I'd give it around ten years before it's turned into a generalised "Wealth tax" that everyone pays as all assets get taxed. Including your home – and quite a few people would get a really nasty surprise when they found out they are paper millionaires thanks to the value of their home. Just like most of Bezos' money is actually tied up in the nominal value of Amazon. He hasn;t got tens of billions of dolalrs in the bank. Always remember that in Great Britain, income tax was sold as a temorary tax needed to fight the war with Napoleon. It is still with us…and it wasn't that long ago that it reached 98%.

This reporter is even more stupid than Bernie. How are they gonna raise $300 billion if the increase in wealth is in net worth, not liquid money. Jeff Bezos didn´t make $47 billion and put it his bank account, his net worth increased by $47 billion, which is a totally different thing, and it is because Amazon has rallied over 60%. There is no liquidity in those $47 billion. Please have some common sense

Taxing the rich is bad. They are the wheels of the economy. They are the investors, and employment creators. They needed to treated well or they will leave the country to other tax havens. And register businesses elsewhere.

the chart that shows how the billionaires made 44% (time 7:42) shows that from Feb to Aug the market was FLAT, as in NO gains. Not 44%. Some stocks went up and others went down, just like any other time period.
