Why Election Officials Are Worried About Prediction Markets
Delaware County, Pennsylvania, and Maricopa County, Arizona, have adopted policies addressing employee prediction market activity. Officials say the rules are meant to prevent financial conflicts, protect workers from allegations and reassure voters, not respond to evidence that election workers have used the markets. CNBC’s Ananya Chetia reports on how prediction markets are prompting new safeguards and raising questions about nonpublic information and voter trust.

0:40 "These delivery people, especially those shopping for and delivering food, risk exposure everyday."
That risk is much lower than the one faced by those working at hospitals admitting coronavirus patients, who are actually at the front lines.
7:01 It seems she got "strike" and "boxcott" mixed up. If it were a true boycott, no one would be doing those deliveries, and it would've worked. But instead, it was a strike with too few people considering the high availability of replacement workers.

The MOST pro-business thing the government could do is: provide universal healthcare, taking the burden of providing that benefit off of businesses. Too bad republicans aren't smart enough to figure that out.

The only purpose for the US to be under lockdown for now is to wait out a suitable vaccine if it actually can come out in time, other than that, with the ballooning numbers of almost 1million active cases, its only a matter of time before the virus gets to everyone over there and its thanks to the one in charge who let it all happened.

Okay how about the actual people working inside the grocery store working all day? Or how about gas station employees that see hundreds of people a day when they are the only person in the store? These are people that should receive hazard pay. No disrespect to the delivery people but they are in and out of the store. People working in a small town with cases where there is only one store in town it is guaranteed an infected person or someone they have came into contact with has been inside that store.

@ 6:38 HAHA THE ONLY DAY I INSTACART SHOPPED in opposition to the strike… I'm a gig worker and make more money than i planned being a stay home mom and these agitators are going to ruin what has liberated me and the pay is VERY MUCH MORE THAN FAIR and i have ZERO complaints other than the FEAR of these agitators RUINING many driver's BEST OPTIONS to rise out of bad situations that previously did not exist.

Was Uber created to be a full time job? They first advertised it as something to do for extra cash. If they start supplying benefits it’s gunna turn into a cab company with required hours. Maybe that’s the easiest way

Hey! I'm the guy they interviewed in the car! Just wanted to let you guys know that due to these companies being unwilling to help their workers, I became homeless which is why I'm doing the interview in the car. If you guys want to read up on my situation, here's my gofundme: GoFundMe.com/ridesharecoronavirus

numbers are off
instacart adds more individual orders onto a single order so if you break down the 15$ and hours its around 5$/3drops and theres no peak pay which soley rely on a tip thats not really a tip, which is added on before the order starts. Which can be manipulated or reduced after the order is done
shipt make the promo pay clear as day. Which looks like its pays out of their pocket than the customer will get you some where between 5-20$ in my time doing it. I've done it for awhile and i usually average about 22-25$ an hour which is great.

My last delivery was to a 97 year old woman, whose daughter ordered a list, that I could barely provide due to hording. My car became inoperable about five or ten minutes after because a bearing failed in a wheel. I almost died a normal delivery driver way. It'll cost more than I have to fix, but I regret nothing. It was a great experience knowing she didn't have to go out that night.

i'm sorry but you are an uber driver u r the opposite of essential, it hurts public transport, damages the environment and causes taxi drivers to lose their jobs…………….and i'm sorry general public but like it or not taxi companies are a lot more ethical and safe for everyone and that's why they cost a bit extra. Uber should be illegal and in a lot of places they are.

I work delivering flowers, our goal is to keep people home as much as possible.
I got a n95 mask and apply a zero contact delivery policy.
All I can do is keep up the good work and pray for this outbreak to end asap.

Gig workers want free hours, choice and hire on the spot and want benefits of full time employees??!!! This is why we can't have nice things 🤦🏼♂️. If you want full time employee benefits, then eeeeuuuuh become a full time employee with set hours and what not. The reporter fails to explain this and just seems like these reporters are looking for fake martyrs to make their piece more sensational then it really is. Fail!

People are still being mad rude to grocery workers, we constantly get in supplies but they sell out immediately even with limits. I had a woman screaming at me yesterday because I said there was a limit on paper goods, I saw her trying to take down the limit signs bc if they aren’t up we can’t force people
